261 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 13, 1983 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT ETHNIC FESTIVAL PARADE REHEARSAL <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, requested <br />permission for the Central High School Alumni Band to <br />rehearse for the Ethnic Festival Parade utilizing William <br />Street.. It was noted that a similar request was approved <br />on May 23, 1983'and no problems occurred utilizing the <br />route recommended by Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski,,Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and .carried, the above <br />request was approved subject to the routebeing formulated <br />with the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />REQUEST TO ERECT TENT REFERRED - ESLINGER FURNITURE & APPLIANCES <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. J. Douglas Kile, Vice President, <br />Eslinger Furniture and Appliances Inc., 2701 South Michigan <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that Eslinger's is <br />preparing to conduct their annual tent sale. A tent is to <br />be erected on July 5, 1983 and taken down on August 1, 1983. <br />Attached to the letter was a letter from City Awing of South <br />Bend indicating the fire retardancy of the tent to be used. <br />It was additionally stated that no smoking signs will be <br />posted at both entrances as well as in the tent at different <br />locations. Fire extinguishers will be available at both <br />entrances and readily visable. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried,'the above <br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - <br />PARKOVASH AVENUE (JUNE 26, 1983) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has reviewed the request of <br />Mr. John E. Marker, Jr., 218 Parkovash, South Bend, to have <br />Parkovash Avenue closed from Hillcrest`to Lafayette Boulevard <br />from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on June 26, 1983 for the purpose <br />of conducting a party and family reunion and recommends <br />approval. Approval is subject to the maintenance of a ten <br />(10) foot clear and unobstructed lane for emergency purposes. <br />The petitioner is responsible for the closing and opening <br />of the street with barricades to be provided by the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above <br />request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - <br />1100 BLOCK NORTH ST. PETER (JUNE 18, 1983) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has reviewed the request of <br />Mr. Joseph Stante, 1121 North St. Peter Street to have the <br />1100 block of North St. Peter Street closed to trafficon <br />Saturday.,.June 18, 1983 from the hours of 2:OO p.m. to <br />10:00 p.m. for the purpose of having a block party and <br />recommends approval. Approval is subject to the maintenance <br />of a twelve (12) foot clear and unobstructed lane for <br />emergency purposes. The petitioner is responsible for <br />the closing and opening of the street with barricades to <br />be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request to conduct a block party was <br />approved. <br />
