260 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 13 , 1983 <br />DENY SIDEWALK SALE PERMIT APPLICATION — OPEN DOOR RESCUE MISSION <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a Sidewalk: Sale Permit application <br />has been received from Mrs. Dale Holiday of the Open Door <br />Rescue Mission, 104 East Broadway, South Bend, Indiana. The <br />Mission is requesting permission to sell miscellaneous cloth- <br />ing, household appliances, etc. on the sidewalk at 104_East <br />Broadway on Tuesday and,"Friday of each week during the months <br />of June, July and August. Mr. Hill advised that permits are <br />typically issued to individuals wishing to conduct a sale for <br />a designated period of time andnoton a continuing basis <br />Because of the liability involved in the continuous use of <br />the public right-of-way, upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above Sidewalk Sale <br />Permit application was denied. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - RUBBISH AND GARBAGE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a Rubbish and Garbage license <br />application was received from Mr. Clarence Taylor, Sr.,.1635 <br />South Franklin Street. It was noted that an inspection of <br />the truck to be used had been conducted by the Solid Waste <br />Bureau and it was found to beiin compliance. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the above _license application was approved and referred to the <br />Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS - OPEN AIR STAND <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following Open Air Stand <br />license applications have been received: . <br />Mr. J.M. Quimby <br />T-Shirts Plus <br />1118 Roberts Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Stand to be located <br />Dates: July 2 & 3, <br />at: 333 W. Colfax <br />1983 <br />Mr. G. John Fischer <br />(Fischer's) Elephant Ears & Ethnic Foods <br />5026 Blackford East <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Stand to be located at: 1135 Beyer Avenue <br />Dates: 6/18/83, 7/2/83 & 7/16/83 <br />He further advised that favorable recommendations were received <br />from the Department of Code Enforcement and the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting. Mr. Fischer has additionally provided a letter <br />from Mr. Robert C. O'Lena, Owner of Superior Muffler Centers, <br />1135 Beyer Avenue, South Bend, indicating that he has permission <br />to use the above referred to property for the open air stand. <br />It was noted that Mr. Quimby of T-Shirts Plus has not yet <br />provided to the Board a letter from the property owner at 333 <br />West Colfax granting permission for that location to be used. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the above license applications were approved with the <br />application of Mr. Quimby being approved subject to his filing <br />a letter of consent from the property owner at 333 W. Colfax. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY REFERRED (508 & 510 E. SOUTH) <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Donald McManus, Southold Heritage <br />Foundation, Inc. indicated Southold's interest in purchasing the <br />city -owned. lots at 508 & 510 East South Street. They are <br />interested in purchasing the property so that a house can be <br />moved to that location. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to <br />the necessary City Departments and Bureaus for a determination <br />as to whether or not the City need retain the lots for -any reason. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
