It was <br />noted that the increased cost is due to a project change <br />requiring that a sewer pipe originally planned to be installed <br />by cutting through State Road 23 at the intersection will now <br />have to be placed underneath the highway. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the <br />contract was approved subject to the filing of the required <br />insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment <br />Bond with the Board. <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - RITSCHARD BROTHERS, INC. <br />(CONSTRUCTION OF TURN LANES ON S.R. 23 AT MAPLE ROAD) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded <br />on June 13, 1983, to Ritschard Brothers, Inc., 1204 West Sample <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $75,188.29 for <br />the above referred to project, a contract in said amount was <br />being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the contract <br />was approved and the required insurance, Performance Bond and <br />Labor and Materials Payment Bond were filed. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 6 - BATES AND ROGERS <br />CONSTRUCTION (COLFAX AVENUE BRIDGE'PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Bates and Rogers Construction <br />Company has submitted Change Order No. 6 for the Colfax <br />Bridge Repair Project in an increased amount of $36,525.00. <br />The Change Order states that a foundation seal for the <br />cofferdam in Pier #5 is needed because of water and sand <br />washing up from under the sheet piling. A revision in plans <br />was made by the Central Office Design Department. Payment <br />will be made at a unit price per cubic yard equal to three - <br />fourths the contract unit price per cubic yard for class B <br />concrete in footings. The footing concrete price is $200.00 <br />per cubic yard. Therefore, the foundation seal price is <br />LI <br />1 <br />
