253 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 6. 1983 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - PARK <br />AVENUE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION (JUNE- 10',' '1983) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the <br />request of Mr. Wayne R. Doolittle, President of the Park <br />Avenue Neighborhood Association, to conduct a block party <br />on -June 10, 1983.from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and recommends <br />approval. Approval is subject to the maintenance of a <br />twelve (12) foot clear and unobstructed lane for emergency <br />purposes. The petitioner is responsible for the closing <br />and opening of the street with barricades to be provided <br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request to conduct a block party was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR TRAFFIC ASSITANCE - VETERAN'S <br />JUDICIAL REVIEW RIGHTS DAY (JUNE '14,'`1983)` <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,. has reviewed the <br />request of Mr. Stephen S. Marozsan, Chairman of the Veterans <br />for Constitutional Rights, Inc., 54361 Palmer Street, South <br />Bend, requesting that "reserved street parking signs" be <br />placed on.the north side of the Monument on Washington <br />Street and along the east side of the old Court House to <br />assist veterans that will be attending the Veterans Judicial <br />Review Rights Day activities to be held on June 14 at 12:00 <br />noon and recommends approval of the placing of reserved <br />street parking signs to be placed on the south side of <br />Washington Street and the west side of Main Street adjacent <br />to the courthouse. The signage placed will be reserved <br />handicapped parking signage and will be placed at 10:00 <br />a.m, on the morning of June 14th by the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting. Mr. Wadzinski requests that the Traffic <br />Division be notified in the event a larger crowd gathering <br />which would require the partial closing of Washington Street. <br />Barricades will be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting in the event of their necessity. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski,. seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT "THE GREAT OUTDOORS" A <br />DOWNTOWN PROMOTION ON RIVER BEND PLAZA (JUNE 17 & 18, 1983) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the <br />request of Ms. Mikki Dobski, Events Coordinator for the <br />City of South Bend, to conduct "The Great Outdoors" a <br />downtown promotion on June 17 & 18, 1983. The Park and <br />Recreation Departments in conjunction with the Downtown <br />merchants are planning two (2) days of nature related and <br />recreational exhibits including the Potawatomi Petting Zoo, <br />Naturalists displays, 4-H and Cooperative Extension exhibits, <br />two (2) recreational vehicles, fishing demonstrations, and <br />possibly the Central High Alumni Band giving a preview <br />performance. Mr. Wadzinski has stated that since all <br />events will be confined to the Plaza area, requiring no <br />traffic control, the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has <br />no objections to these events being held. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request as submitted was approved. <br />APPROVE ST. STEPHEN'S ONE -MILE RACE ROUTE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised on May 16, 1983, the Board approved <br />the request of Mr. Ricardo Parra, Chairman, St. Stephen's <br />Parish Festival Race Committee, to conduct a parish festival <br />run to be held on August 6, 1983.
