2y <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 31,'1983 <br />requested permission to sell a limited edition AAU poster. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed this request and <br />recommends approval. Upon a.motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was <br />approved subject to the Chamber of Commerce securing an <br />Open Air Stand for the sale of the posters. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO HAVE. CURB PAINTED BLUE FOR HANDICAPPED <br />PERSON IN STUDEBAKER SCHOOL AREA 729 DUBAIL STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed <br />the request of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Wolford,-729 East Dubail <br />Street to .have the curb in front of their residence painted <br />blue to assist Mr. Wolford who has had an amputation of his <br />left leg. Mr. Wadzinski's investigation revealed that the <br />area is located opposite Studebaker School.. The area has <br />been solidly parked when observed, with little or no empty <br />spaces on that side of the street. Primary problems develop <br />at 8:OO a.m. and in the afternoon when school is dismissed. <br />It appears from the investigation that when a vehicle is <br />moved another vehicle will take its place and a personis <br />unable to return to the original position. Based upon the <br />location andthesurrounding land use, the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting recommends that the area in front of 729 East <br />Dubail be designated a handicapped space. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE CLOSURE OF PARK LANE - JUNE 2, 1983 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has received a request from <br />Mr. Al Votaw of Murphy Freight Lines to close Park Lane from <br />Lafayette to Main on June 2, 1983 from.1:00 p.m, until 3:00 p.m. <br />for purposes of displaying a semi -trailer and tractor for the <br />Madison School students and recommends approval. Mr. Wadzinski <br />advised that the same event was held last year by the same <br />company without incident. Barricades will be delivered, <br />set up and taken down by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR STUDEBAKER DRIVER'S CLUB <br />PARADE - JULY 23. 1983 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has reviewed the request of <br />the Studebaker Driver's Club to hold a parade on July 23, <br />1983 during their annual rally and recommends approval. <br />The parade would marshall on Jefferson Boulevard between <br />Taylor and Lafayette, leaving Williams Street open to. <br />through traffic. The parade would then proceed south on <br />Lafayette Boulevard to the vicinity of Sample, where it <br />would disband. The marshalling would begin at 8:00 a.m. <br />and the parade would commence at 9:00 a.m. The streets <br />would be closed by the Traffic Division or Traffic Bureau <br />personnel prior to and reopened after the event. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,. seconded by.Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above request and recommendations were approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND PUBLIC RECREATION <br />COMMISSION TO CONDUCT TRI-FUN-ALON - JUNE 4, 1983 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of <br />Mr. Robert C. Goodrich, Director of the South Bend Public <br />Recreation Commission, to conduct a Tri-Fun-Alon to be held <br />
