REGULAR MEETING MAY 31, 1983 <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - RUBBISH AND GARBAGE <br />An application for a Rubbish and Garbage license was received <br />from Mr. John Barbara, President B & B Rubbish Removal, Inc., <br />55400 Pine Road, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that <br />inspections of, the trucks to be used.had been conducted by <br />the Solid Waste Bureau and they were found to be in compliance. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above license application was approved and <br />referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION OPEN AIR STAND RENEWAL <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that an Open Air Stand license applica- <br />tion was received from Mr. David Matthews, proprietor of The <br />Great American Hot Dog Stand, 1011 Corby Blvd, South Bend, <br />Indiana. He further advised that favorable recommendations <br />were received from the Department of Code Enforcement and <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Mr. Matthews additionally <br />provided a letter from Ms. Teresa M. Wojtas of the Corby Fabric <br />Care Center, 1011 East Corby, indicating permission to use <br />the rear.of the lot.for The Great American Hot Dog Stand. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above renewal license application was <br />approved and referred to -,the Deputy Controller's Office <br />for issuance. <br />FILING OF CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the Certificate of Insurance for Arco Engineering <br />Construction Corporation, P.O. Box 906, Mishawaka, Indiana <br />41144, was filed. <br />APPROVE ETHNIC FESTIVAL EVENTS AND STREET CLOSURES <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the <br />Ethnic Festival events and street closure requests as <br />submitted by Ms. Mikki Dobski of the Ethnic Festival <br />Committee and recommends approval for the following events: <br />1. On June 30th, 1983, commencing at 7:O0 a.m., the <br />100 block of South Michigan Street will be closed <br />to all vehicular traffic for set-up of the Ethnic <br />Festival. This section of the street will remain <br />closed thru and including July 6th, 1983. <br />2. The merchant's parking lot located on the west <br />side of 100 S. Michigan will be closed to all <br />vehicular traffic and use on June 30th, 1983, <br />commencing at 7:O0 a.m. and will remain closed <br />thru July 6th, 1983. <br />3. The merchant's parking lot located on the <br />southeast corner of Washington & Michigan <br />will be closed to all vehicular traffic and <br />use on July lst, 1983 and will remain closed <br />until July 5th, 1983 or until the Park Depart- <br />ment portable stage has been removed. <br />4. On July 2nd and July 3rd of 1983, the southern <br />three quarters of 100 N. Michigan will be <br />closed to all vehicular traffic for various <br />ethnic festival related events on those two <br />days. The north portion of 100 N. Michigan <br />will remain open from Colfax for access to the <br />parking facilities of the 1st Bank/Marriott complex. <br />
