<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF BROADWAY CHRISTIAN PARISH
<br />TO CONDUCT HUMAN RACE - OCTOBER 15, 1983
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,
<br />Bureau of Traffic.and Lighting, has reviewed the request of
<br />Mr. Larry Neiswender, Race Director, on behalf of the Broadway
<br />Christian Parish to conduct the fourth annual running of the
<br />Human Race to be held on Saturday, October 15, 1983 and
<br />recommends approval. The route to be utilized is as follows:
<br />Starting at corner of Broadway and Carroll,
<br />proceeding west on Broadway to Franklin,.
<br />south on- Franklin to Ewing, west on. Ewing
<br />to Gertrude, south on Gertrude ,to Chippewa,
<br />east on Chippewa to Main, north on Main to
<br />Ewing, and west on Ewing to Rum Village Park.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill
<br />and carried, the above request was approved,
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT STREET SERVICES
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of
<br />Ms. Dora Lottie, 2024 Pershing Street, South Bend, to
<br />conduct street services on the corner of Washington and
<br />Walnut Streets from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the
<br />first week of June - Monday through Saturday and recommends
<br />approval providing that activities are confined to the sidewalk.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill
<br />and carried, the above request was approved.
<br />DENY LICENSE APPLICATIONS - OPEN AIR STANDS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that license applications were
<br />received from the following:
<br />Frances McCummons
<br />McCummons Fireworks
<br />3712 Langley Drive
<br />Leroy Ward
<br />1921 S. Brookfield
<br />He further advised that unfavorable recommendations were
<br />received from the Department of Code Enforcement concerning
<br />these applications. Both applicants propose to operate open
<br />air stands in a residential area zoned "A The operation
<br />of an open air stand is not a permitted use in that zoned
<br />area. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill
<br />and carried, the above license applications were denied.
<br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill
<br />and carried, the following (2) handicapped parking permits
<br />were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's
<br />office for issuance:
<br />Clare 11. Dean, 1255 E. Fairington, S.B.
<br />Elva Oberlin, 2500 Topsfield, Apt. 307, S.B.
<br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR'S BOND
<br />Mr. Ray S. Andrysiak, P.E., recommended the approval of a
<br />Contractor's Bond for William M. Ferguson, 1228 North Fremont
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, effective May 23, 1983. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above bond was approved as recommended.
