a 2' REGULAR MEETING MAY 23. 1983 FILING OF TAXICAB RATE CHANGE - YELLOW CAB LEASING CO., INC. In a letter to the Board, Mr. Otto E. Keres, Sup'r of the Yellow Cab Leasing Co., Inc., 710 North Niles Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, indicated that they are in the process of lowering cab rates for the City of South Bend. As required by ordinance, this rate change will appear in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News and will become effective on June 18, 1983, which is thirty (30) days after publication in the two newspapers. The new rates to be charged are as follows: $1.00 first 1/5 mile or part thereof $ .20 each additional 1/5 mile $8.00 per Hour $ .50 each additional passenger It was noted that the current rates are as follows: $2.00 first 1/5 mile of part thereof $-.10 every 1/7 mile thereafter Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above rate change was accepted and filed. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board for their approval five (5) traffic control devices. He stated that they are all at uncontrolled "T" intersections. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the following traffic control devices, as recommended by Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, were approved: INSTALL STOP SIGN - On Bonfield at Sheridan. REVISE TO STOP SIGN - On Pyle at Edison. INSTALL STOP SIGN - On Oakland at Mishawaka Ave. INSTALL STOP SIGN - On Clover at Mishawaka Ave. REVISE TO STOP SIGN - On Gordon Circle at Edison. APPROVE REQUEST OF AVALON GROTTO TO CONDUCT PARADE - SEPTEMBER 24. 1983 Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of Mr. Robert McPhee, Chairman 1983 Midwest Grotto Convention to conduct a parade on September 24, 1983 commencing at 1:00 p.m. and recommends approval. Details regarding the route to be used are to be worked out with the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved. APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - (1800 BLOCK MARINE STREET) JUNE 11, 19'83 Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. RalphJ. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of Ms. Maralee Hertel, 1826 Marine Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct a block party in the 1800 block of Marine Street on Saturday, June 11, 1983 from 9:00 a.m, to 9:00 p.m. and recommends approval. Approval for the block party is subject to the maintenance of a twelve foot (12') clear and unobstructed lane for emergency purposes. The petitioner is responsible for the closing and opening of the street with barricades to be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request to conduct a block party was approved. 1 1
