a <br />2' <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 23. 1983 <br />FILING OF TAXICAB RATE CHANGE - YELLOW CAB LEASING CO., INC. <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Otto E. Keres, Sup'r of the <br />Yellow Cab Leasing Co., Inc., 710 North Niles Avenue, South <br />Bend, Indiana, indicated that they are in the process of <br />lowering cab rates for the City of South Bend. As required <br />by ordinance, this rate change will appear in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News and will become effective on <br />June 18, 1983, which is thirty (30) days after publication <br />in the two newspapers. The new rates to be charged are as <br />follows: <br />$1.00 first 1/5 mile or part thereof <br />$ .20 each additional 1/5 mile <br />$8.00 per Hour <br />$ .50 each additional passenger <br />It was noted that the current rates are as follows: <br />$2.00 first 1/5 mile of part thereof <br />$-.10 every 1/7 mile thereafter <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above rate change was accepted and filed. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board for their approval five <br />(5) traffic control devices. He stated that they are all at <br />uncontrolled "T" intersections. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the following <br />traffic control devices, as recommended by Mr. Ralph J. <br />Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, were <br />approved: <br />INSTALL STOP SIGN - On Bonfield at Sheridan. <br />REVISE TO STOP SIGN - On Pyle at Edison. <br />INSTALL STOP SIGN - On Oakland at Mishawaka Ave. <br />INSTALL STOP SIGN - On Clover at Mishawaka Ave. <br />REVISE TO STOP SIGN - On Gordon Circle at Edison. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF AVALON GROTTO TO CONDUCT <br />PARADE - SEPTEMBER 24. 1983 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the <br />request of Mr. Robert McPhee, Chairman 1983 Midwest Grotto <br />Convention to conduct a parade on September 24, 1983 commencing <br />at 1:00 p.m. and recommends approval. Details regarding the <br />route to be used are to be worked out with the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - <br />(1800 BLOCK MARINE STREET) JUNE 11, 19'83 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. RalphJ. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the <br />request of Ms. Maralee Hertel, 1826 Marine Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana to conduct a block party in the 1800 block of Marine <br />Street on Saturday, June 11, 1983 from 9:00 a.m, to 9:00 p.m. <br />and recommends approval. Approval for the block party is <br />subject to the maintenance of a twelve foot (12') clear and <br />unobstructed lane for emergency purposes. The petitioner is <br />responsible for the closing and opening of the street with <br />barricades to be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request to conduct a <br />block party was approved. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
