225 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 23, 1983 <br />APPROVE INTENDED USE HEARING ON REVENUE SHARING <br />FUNDS - VOLUNTEER PROGRAM ($5,000.00) <br />City Controller Joseph E. Kernan requested Board approval <br />for an intended use hearing on .the proposed expenditure <br />of $5,000.00 in revenue sharing funds to be used for the <br />Volunteer Program along with monies to be donated from the <br />Junior League. Mr. Kernan advised that a contract will be <br />entered into with Junior League for the coordination of <br />the placement of volunteers within the various City <br />Departments. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by <br />Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the request was approved and <br />a date of June 6 1983 was set for the public hearing on <br />the intended.use of revenue sharing funds. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT ACTIVITIES ON RIVERBEND PLAZA REFERRED <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski requested <br />permission to hold the following activities in the downtown area: <br />June 2 AAU Special Event to help promote <br />the July games. <br />July 3 Century Ride in conjunction with <br />with the Ethnic Festival. A <br />10K, 50K and 100K bicycle ride. <br />June 17 & 18 <br />"The Great Outdoors" a downtown <br />promotion. The Park and Recrea- <br />tion Departments in conjunction <br />with the downtown merchants are <br />planning two days of nature related <br />and recreational exhibits. <br />July 6 <br />Library Read -a -Rama. <br />July 14 <br />AAU Torch Relay Run. <br />July 19 <br />The committee for the Studebaker <br />Museum Grand Opening has requested <br />permission to release approximately <br />50 balloons during the noon hour <br />activities. <br />July 22 <br />The Air Force has requested permission <br />to display a new plane at Century <br />Center beginning with set-up on the <br />22nd and continuing to the 27th. <br />July 28 <br />AAU Preview of Opening Ceremonies. <br />Noon hour on the plaza. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above requests were referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Division for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT ETHNIC FESTIVAL PARADE REHEARSAL <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, requested <br />permission to use Lafayette Street from Central High School <br />to Leeper Park on Tuesday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. for <br />rehearsal for the Alumni Band for the Ethnic Festival <br />Parade. Approximately fifty-four (54) people will march <br />for about one (1) hour.. Mr. Leszczynski recommended that <br />approval be granted to the Alumni Band to conduct a rehearsal <br />parade using a route to be approved by the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Polic Department Traffic Division. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, permission to conduct a parade rehearsal was approved <br />subject to an acceptable route being formulated with the <br />above two departments. <br />
