REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 21, 1983 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS <br />CALVERT STREET PROJECTS (ETHANOL PLANT PROJECT)' <br />Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, Public Works, requested <br />permission to advertise for receipt of bids for the following <br />two projects: <br />1. Calvert Street storm and sanitary sewers <br />west of Maple Road. <br />2. Installation of storm and sanitary sewers <br />reconstruction and widening of the pavement <br />on Calvert Street from Olive Street to <br />Maple Road. <br />Mr. Leszczynski additionally stated that this is the first <br />letting of bids relating to the ethanol plant construction. <br />This project will provide for the improvement of roads and <br />storm and sanitary sewers to the site. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the <br />request was approved and a. date of March 14, 1983 was <br />established for the receipt of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEETS - CALVERT STREET PROJECTS <br />(ETHANOL PLANT PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the following title sheets were being <br />presented to the Board for execution: <br />1. Calvert Street storm and sanitary sewers <br />west of Maple Road. <br />2. Installation of storm and sanitary sewers, <br />reconstruction and widening of the pavement <br />on Calvert Street from Olive Street to <br />Maple Road. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the above Title Sheets were approved and signed. <br />APPROVE RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PREFERENTIALITY - <br />INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS <br />Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board a resolution received <br />from the Indiana Department of Highways establishing preferenti- <br />ality at US 33, SR 23 and SR 20 within the City of South Bend, <br />St. Joseph County, Indiana. The resolution was approved by <br />the Department of Highways on February 8, 1983. The resolu- <br />tion contains a number of official actions for intersections <br />within the City of South Bend, establishing preferentiality for <br />the emergency flash operations at various intersections on <br />US 33, SR 23 and SR 20. This preferentiality would establish <br />a four-way all -red flashing stop situation in the event of <br />signal malfunction. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above referred to <br />Resolution was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST - CROP WALK FOR WORLD HUNGER - APRIL 16, 1983 <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Light- <br />ing, recommended approval of the request of the South Bend <br />CROP Walk for World Hunger for 1983 to hold a walk in recogni- <br />tion of the hunger and starvation around the world to be on <br />April 16, 1983 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Wadzinski recom- <br />mended the route as submitted be changed as follows: <br />Start at Leeper Park and go south on Michigan <br />Street to Marion, west on Marion/Chapin to <br />Washington, west on Washington to LaPorte, <br />northwest to Lincolnway, northwest on Lincolnway <br />to Huey, north on Huey to Hamilton, east on Hamilton <br />(Woodlawn) to Riverside, Riverside to Angela to North <br />Shore to Michigan and across bridge back to Leeper Park. <br />1 <br />
