REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 7, 1983 <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY REFERRED - <br />217 NORTH KENMORE (URBAN HOMESTEAD PROGRAM) <br />A letter was received from Mr. Robert Johnson of 209 North <br />Kenmore Street stating his interest in purchasing the above <br />named property. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to the <br />necessary city departments and bureaus for a determination as <br />to whether or not the City need retain the lot for any reason. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT THIRTEENTH A14NUAL ST. JOSEPH <br />RIVER RUN (11ICHIANA WATERSHED, INC.) <br />A request was received from Mr. Richard.D. Carey, President of <br />the St. Joseph County Chapter of the Michiaaa Watershed, Inc. <br />to hold its thirteenth annual St. Joseph River Run on Saturday <br />May 21, 1983. The canoe race will again be run from Leener <br />Park to Niles, Michigan. Approximately seven hundred (700) <br />participants are expected. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above <br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />the Police Traffic Division and the Park Department for review <br />and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO HOLD CONCOURSE PORTION OF STUDEBAKER DRIVER'S CLUB <br />ANNUAL 14EET IN DOWNTOWN AREA AND SWAP MEET IN COLFAX PARKING GARAGE <br />Mr. Ralph Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />and Mr. Ted Latkowski, Director of Parking, recommended approval <br />of the request of the Studebaker Driver's Club to hold the <br />concourse portion of the annual meet in the downtown area on <br />Thursday, July 21, 1983, and the Swap Meet to be held July 19 <br />21, 1983. Mr. Latkowski noted that the request of the Club to <br />use floors three (3) through six (6) of the Colfax Parking <br />Garage has been amended to read one-half (1/2) of the third <br />floor and all remaining upper floors of the garage. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was approved as amended. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - RUBBISH AND GARBAGE <br />An application for a Rubbish and Garbage Removal License was <br />received from Eddie L. Ivory, 1302 Linden Street. It was <br />noted that an inspection of the truck to be used had been <br />conducted by the Solid Waste Bureau and it was found to be in <br />compliance. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the above license application was <br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for <br />issuance. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND - PRETZEL PALACE <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations were <br />received from the Health Department, Fire Department and Depart- <br />ment of Code Enforcement for the renewal application for an <br />Open Air Stand License for the Pretzel Palace located at <br />Michigan and Jefferson Streets on River Bend Plaza. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above application was approved and referred to <br />the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczvnski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices as <br />recommended by Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, and requested by the South Bend School <br />Corporation were approved: <br />1 <br />1 <br />
