At
the November 15th meeting of the Board, the fire inspector
informed the Board that Mr. Harmon had advised the equipment
had been ordered and it would only take a couple of days to
complete the installation. In view of the representation
made by Mr. Harmon to the fire inspector, the Board had granted
another extension for compliance and had determined if the
required equipment was not installed.and in operating condition
by November 22, 1982, the restaurant license would berevoked
without further public hearing by the Board. Mrs Eugenia
Schwartz, Assistant City Attorney, advised that she had
received a letter from Assistant Fire Chief George Gyori
informing her that Centurion Fire Safety was installing the
equipment; however, Mr. Harmon had been very uncooperative in
the matter and at least another five hours would be required
to complete the work. Fire Inspector Robert Janowiak advised
that he had talked with Mr. Harmon on Friday, November 19th,
and he had been assured the work would be completed today.; He
advised that the work was not yet done.: Mr. Hill stated that,
in accordance with the Board's decision of November 15, 1982,
the restaurant license should be revoked because of Mr. Harmon's
failure to comply. Mr. Kernan advised that Mr. Harmon, if he
completed the necessary installation, would be required to`
make application for a new license. Upon a motion made by Mr.
Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the restaurant license
for Gene's Restaurant, 1212 North Bendix Drive, was revoked
this date.
APPROVE ADVERTISING FOR BIDS - JANITORIAL SERVICES (POLICE DEPT.
Police Chief Dan Thompson requested permission to advertise for
the receipt of sealed bids for annual janitorial services at
the Police Department and three police sub -stations. Upon a.motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded
by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the request was approved, and
a bid date of December 13, 1982, established.
APPROVE PIE -EATING CONTEST ON RIVER BEND PLAZA
Mikki Dobski, Recreation Events Coordinator for the city, requested
permission on behalf of Dainty Maid Bake Shop to conduct a pie -
eating contest on the Plaza stage on Tuesday, November 23, 1982,
at 12:00 noon in conjunction with the Downtown Holiday promotion.
It was noted that the required $1,000,000 liability insurance with
the City of South Bend named as an additional insured was provided.
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
carried, the request was approved.
LJ
1
1
