472
REGULAR MEETING
DECEMBER 31, 1984
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fire Department of the City
of South Bend be authorized to dispose of said equipment and
remove same from the City Inventory.
DATED this 31st day of December, 1984.
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
s/John E. Leszczynski
s/Richard L. Hill
ATTEST:
s/Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk
APPROVE 1985 CONTRACT FOR ANIMAL CONTROL AND SHELTER SERVICES -
HUMANE SOCIETY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA, INC.
Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement
submitted to the Board for approval the 1985 Contract for Animal
Control and Shelter Services with the Humane Society of St. Joseph
County, Indiana, Inc. The contract is for the period January 1,
1985 to December 31, 1985 in the amount of $135,000.00 with
payments to be made to the Humane Society in twelve (12) monthly
installments of $11,250.00. Ms. Barnard advised that there is a
$5,000.00 increase in the Contract over last year. She further
advised that the Humane Society was requiring $150,000.00 for
services for 1985, but the $135,000.00 amount was negotiated.
However, as a cost -saving measure, Sunday patrol services in the
City will be discontinued. The Humane Society will, however,
provide emergency care and services on Sunday as requited. Mr.'
Hill inquired as to whether or not the Humane Society provides any
type of log or information to the Department of Code Enforcement
indicating in what section of the City they are working and
whether or not they divide the City into sectors. Ms. Barnard
advised that the only information of this nature provided to her
is that the Society has two (2) vans patrolling in the City and
respond to calls in all sectors of the City as needed. Upon a
motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried,
the 1985 Contract for Animal Control and Shelter Services was
approved and executed.
APPROVE CONTRACTS - JANITORIAL AND PEST CONTROL SERVICES - POLICE
DEPARTMENT
Mr. Leszczynski advised that Contracts between the Board of Public
Works and Absolute Pest and Termite Control of 2228 Lincolnway
West, Mishawaka, Indiana for pest and rodent control and
Maintenance Systems Corporation of 203 East Mishawaka Avenue,
Mishawaka, Indiana, for cleaning services at the Police Station at
701 West Sample Street and the three (3) Police Substations at
1716 South Michigan Street, 303 East LaSalle Street and 220 West
Olive Street, were being submitted for approval. It was noted
that these bids were awarded on November 19, 1984.
The Contract with Maintenance Systems Corporation is for the
period January 1, 1985 through December 31, 1985 and is the amount
of $16,800.00 annually to be paid in equal monthly payments of '
$1,400.00.
