426 REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 13,.19.84 APPROVE PURCHASE AGREEMENT - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 606 CARROLL STREET In accordance with the bid awarded on July 18, 1983, for the purchase of the City -owned lot at 606 Carroll Street in the amount of $220.00 to Mr. Marion Treat, 612 South Carroll Street, South Bend, Indiana, the Purchase Agreement for the property was being submitted at this time for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Purchase Agreement was approved and the matter referred to the City Attorney's office for drafting of the appropriate Quit - Claim Deed. APPROVE REQUEST TO SEEK PROPOSALS FOR PIGEON CONTROL - RIVER BEND PLAZA AND WESTERN AVENUE VIADUCT In a Memorandum to the Board, Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk, requested permission to seek proposals for pigeon control services for calendar year 1985 for River Bend Plaza and the Western Avenue Viaduct. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS - TOWING AND STORAGE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, advised that currently the Department of Code Enforcement has a contract with South Bend Auto Parts for the towing and storage of abandoned vehicles for the City. That contract expires December 31, 1984 and she is requesting that the Board advertise for the receipt of proposals for this service for calendar 1985. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried,the above request was approved. REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - RESIDUE PROPERTY AT THE SOUTH EAST CORNER OF LELAND AND MARION STREET REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Mr. Ronald E. Gordon, owner of The Light Owl, 529 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, indicated that he owns Lot 26 and part of Lot 25 on Lincolnway West adjacent to the residue property at the south east corner of Leland and Marion, Lots 27 and 28 of Hendricks and Grant Additions (City Deed Nos. 342 and 394). Mr. Gordon indicated that.he is interested in purchasing these residue properties in order to allow him to use them for parking for his business. He indicated that he does not plan to pave them, just maintain them the way they are with the exception of planting some shrubs and greenery. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the necessary City departments and bureaus for a determination as to whether or not the City need retain the above referred to property for any reason. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the following six (6) traffic control devices were approved: NEW INSTALLATION STOP SIGN - On Brownie @ Rexford. (Uncontrolled "T"). NEW INSTALLATION STOP SIGN - On Brunette @ Rexford. (Uncontrolled "T"). NEW INSTALLATION STOP SIGN - On Buetter @ Rexford. (Uncontrolled "T"). REVISE STOP SIGN 1-WAY (ON LIBERTY) - On Sample at Liberty. (Completion of Olive & Sample Overpass). L] 1
