� � t REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 22, 1984 AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - MONROE PARK PHASE VII PROJECT In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of Public Construction, recommended that the Board accept the. low bid of Country Garden, Inc., d/b/a Country Garden Landscape, 62971 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $19,034.40. It was noted that bids for this project were opened by the Board on October 15, 1914, Mr. Leszczynski further advised that in accordance with the award of this bid, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above bid was awarded and the Contract approved, and the appropriate Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond as submitted were filed. AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - RE -ROOFING OF BUILDING - 521 ECLIPSE PLACE (BUREAU OF HOUSING) In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of Public Construction, recommended that the Board accept the low bid of Slatile Roofing and Sheet Metal, 1703 South Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $24,700.00. It was noted that bids for this project were opened by the Board on October 15, 1984. Mr. Leszczynski further advised that in accordance with the award of this bid, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid was awarded and the Contract approved, subject to the filing of the appropriate Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond. APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - CLEANING AND PAINTING. OF THE WESTERN/WALNUT VIADUCT PROJECT Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on September 17, 1984, to J.L. Manta, Inc.,'7757 South Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, in the amount of $23,590.00 for the above referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Contract was approved and the appropriate Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond as submitted were filed. FILING OF NOTIFICATION RE: MOTORCADE TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE ST. JOSEPH COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CENTRAL COMMITTEE - OCTOBER 29, 1984 In a letter to the Board, Mr. C.J. "Casey" Paj-akowski, Chairman, St. Joseph County Democratic Central Committee, P.O. Box 1375, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Committee will be con- ducting a motorcade on Monday, October 29, 1984, over the following South Bend City streets - Cleveland Road, west from the St. Joseph River to Bendix Drive, Bendix Drive south to Lincolnway West, Lincolnway West to the City limits. Board members determined that since all traffic regulations would be obeyed and no police escort would be required, this matter did not require Board approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above information as submitted was accepted for filing. "APPROVE BLOCK.PARTY REQUEST MANITOU PLACE (OCTOBER 28, 1984) In a letter to the Board, Ms. Margaret Moody, Block Party Co - Chairman, 727 Forest Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Park Avenue Neighborhood Association Block Party scheduled for anal approved by the Board of Public Works for October 7, 1984, was rained out. Therefore, they are requesting that Manitou Place be blocked off on Sunday, October 28, 1984, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was approved subject to favorable recommendations being received from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division concerning this request.
