<br />Business Association's request and would do whatever she could
<br />to assist in the approval of this request. Mr. Leszczynski
<br />advsied that this request, as all other requests, would be'
<br />referred to the necessary bureaus and departments for review
<br />and recommendation. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred
<br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Police Department Traffic
<br />Division and City Attorney's office for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO HAVE PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF 717 EAST
<br />ALTGELD STREET DESIGNATED AS A HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Captain Edward Friend, South
<br />Bend Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request
<br />to have the parking space in front of 717 East Altgeld Street
<br />designated as a handicapped parking space, said request submitted
<br />to the Board on August 27, 1984, and recommended approval. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried,
<br />the above recommendation was accepted and the request approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY ON SUNNYMEDE -
<br />SEPTEMBER 23, 1984
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Captain Edward Friend, South
<br />Bend Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request
<br />to conduct a block party on Sunnymede between Twyckenham and
<br />Sunnyside on September 23, 1984, said request submitted to the
<br />Board on September 4.,.1984, and recommend approval. Approval was
<br />recommended subject to the maintenance of a ten foot (10') clear
<br />and unobstructed lane for emergency purposes. It was noted that
<br />the Petitioner will be responsible for the placing and removal
<br />of the barricades with the barricades to be delivered by the
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above recom-
<br />mendation was accepted and the request approved.
<br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE
<br />Upon.a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and
<br />carried,.the following one (1) traffic control device was approved:
<br />NEW INSTALLATION - TRUCKS OVER 26,000 GVW PROHIBITED - Monroe
<br />.Park Residential Area - bounded by (but excluding) Bronson,
<br />Michigan, Monroe and L.W.E. (Consisting of South St., St.
<br />Joseph, Carroll, Columbia, Rush, Clinton and Bronson from
<br />Marietta to Fellows). (To prohibit use of residential streets
<br />by vehicles heavier than 26,000 lbs. servicing the Monroe
<br />Industrial Park).
<br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the following two (2) handicapped parking permit applica-
<br />tions were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office
<br />for issuance of permits:
<br />Alice M. Carlson, 1514 Rosemary Ln,, S.B.
<br />Betty W. Gassensmith, 1703 Churchill Dr,, S.B.
<br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT
<br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a
<br />total of ninety-nine (99) properties cleaned from September 4.,
<br />1984 to September 7, 1984 was submitted. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the ren_ort
<br />as submitted was filed.
