337 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 20, 1984 <br />REQUEST TO HAVE PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF 2205 SOUTH FRA.NKLIN <br />STREET DESIGNATED AS A HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Dr. Ronald E. Grow, D.O., 810 West <br />Indiana.Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, on behalf of Mrs. Gladys <br />Nordin, 2205 South Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana, recom- <br />mended that the parking space in front of her house be designated <br />as a handicapped parking space. Dr. Grow advised that Mrs. Nordin <br />has been a patient of his since 1968 and she has visual problems <br />as well as arthritis and problems dealing with equilibruim. The <br />designation of a handicapped space in front of her home will <br />enable her family to more easily facilitate her transportation <br />to and from doctor appointments and family functions. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recom- <br />mendation. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr.,Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the following six (6) traffic control devices were approved: <br />NEW INSTALLATION - 1 HOUR PARKING - West side of St. Peter <br />from LaSalle, North to the alley (Approx. 150'). (To <br />promote curb space turnover). <br />REMOVE HANDICAPPED PARKING, - 525 E. Washington. (Owner <br />of Establishment provided off-street Handicapped <br />Parking). Requested by Mint Julip. <br />REMOVE ALL SIGNAGE - 600 N. Main Street (Navarre to Bartlett). <br />_.(At 8:00.a.m.-.on-.August 24, 1984, 600 N. Main will -be vacated <br />as public R.O.W. and closed to thru traffic. All traffic <br />signage shall be removed). <br />NEW INSTALLATION - 4-WAY STOP - Main and Bartlett (effective <br />8:00 a.m. on August 24, 1984). (Temporary installation <br />in conjunction with traffic pattern changes (closure of <br />600 N. Main) due to Hospital construction). <br />REVISE TO TWO-WAY - 100 W. Bartlett. (effective 8:00 a.m. - <br />August 24, 1984). Reversion to two-way as part of traffic <br />pattern changes (closure of 600 N. Main). <br />14EW INSTALLATION - MTJLTI-WAY STOP - _Alley intersection, <br />100 E. & 1700 S. Michigan: (Behind S.B.P.D. S. Sector) <br />(Emergency vehicle exit route). Requested by: S.B.P.D. <br />South Sector Station <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND AIR SHOW TO HAVE TRAFFIC <br />ASSISTANCE FOR AIR SHOW SEPTEMBER 15 & 16, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and Captain Edward Friend, <br />SBPD Traffic Division have reviewed the above request submitted <br />to the Board on Augut 13, 1984 for traffic assistance at the <br />Airshow 1984 and recommend approval due to the traffic flow <br />involved for the show. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above recommendation was <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF COLFAX CULTURAL CENTER TO CLOSE COTTAGE <br />GROVE FOR SECOND ANNUAL WESTSIDE CELEBRATION - AUGUST '25,'1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Captain Edward Friend, SBPD <br />Traffic Division have reviewed the above referred to request <br />submitted to the Board on August 13, 1984 and recommend approval. <br />
