<br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - 1000 BLOCK OF WOODWARD
<br />AVENUE - SEPTEMBER 2, 1984, REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Sara H. Goetz, 1067 Woodward Avenue,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close the 1000 block
<br />of Woodward Avenue, between Golden and Vassar on Sunday, September
<br />2, 1984, from 12:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the annual neighborhood
<br />block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by
<br />Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic
<br />Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT RALLY ON STAGE AREA ON RIVER BEND
<br />PLAZA - SEPTEMBER 29. 1984, REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Dorothy Jaffee, on behalf of the
<br />Concerned Citizens for Better Government, requested permission
<br />to use the stage area of River Bend Plaza, in front of Robertson's
<br />Department store, for a "Dump Regan" Rally. The Rally is to be
<br />held on Saturday, September 29, 1984, sometime between the hours
<br />of 1:00 p.m, and 6:00 p.m. The actual time is pending the speaker's
<br />schedule. The actual length of the Rally will be under two (2)
<br />hours. Besides the speakers, there will be a presentation by a
<br />mime group and music with the organization providing their own
<br />sound system. No food or beverage will be served or sold. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and
<br />and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting, Police Department Traffic Division and
<br />Community Affairs Director for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF STANLEY CLARK SCHOOL FUND RAISING COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT
<br />10-K RACE AND 1-MILE FUN WALK - NOVEMBER 3, 1984 REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Richard S. Dennen, 1113 East Wayne
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Stanley Clark School
<br />Fund Raising Committee requests the use of City streets for the
<br />purpose of running a 10-K race using the Rum Village Course and
<br />a 1-mile Fun Walk using the Rum Village Park Road. The event is
<br />scheduled for November 3, 1984, to begin at 10:00 a.m. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried,
<br />the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Light-
<br />ing and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE WALL STREET FOR NEIGHBORHOOD
<br />BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 25, 1984
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Tim Kinney, advised that the residents
<br />of Wall Street from Sunnyside to Twyckenham Streets have planned
<br />a Block Party for Saturday, August 25, 1984, from 4:00 p.m. until
<br />12:00 midnight and are requesting that a portion of Wall Street
<br />be closed to traffic for this party. This portion would be
<br />between the intersection of Chester with Wall and Twyckenham and
<br />Wall. Mr. Leszczynski advised that this request has been reviewed
<br />by Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,
<br />and Captain Edward Friend, Police Department Traffic Division and
<br />they recommend approval. Approval was recommended subject to
<br />Wall Street being closed from Twyckenham to the "Wall/Chester
<br />cut -over" as requested, the maintenance of a ten foot (10') clear
<br />and unobstructed lane for emergency vehicles and subject to the
<br />Petitioner placing and removing the barricades and "Street Closed
<br />Ahead" barrier at Sunnyside, said barricades and sign to be
<br />delivered by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the
<br />above recommendation was accepted and the request approved.
