331
REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 20, 1984
Mr. Bert Liss, Yellow Cab Leasing Company, Inc., 710 North Niles
Avenue, P.O. Box 657, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a letter to
the Board in which he asked that the Board please consider his
letter as his Memorandum for the Public Hearing in the cases of
Walter E. Jones, d/b/a Allied Cab Company and Roger D. Woods,
d/b/a Roseland Cab Company. He stated that he urges the Board
of Public Works to adhere to the City taxi ordinance in considering
the applications for Certificates from these two (2) firms.
Mr. Walter E. Jones, applicant, was present and asked that the
applications be favorably accepted.
There being no one else present wishing to speak either for or
against the applications, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the Public Hearing on this
matter was closed.
Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried,
the applications for Certificates of Public Convenience and
Necessity for the Operation of Taxicabs submitted by Walter E.
Jones and Roger D. Woods were approved and referred to the Deputy
Controller's office for issuance of the necessary licenses.
In response to a comment made by South Bend Tribune Reporter James
Wensits, Mr. Hill advised that the Board applied the ordinance in
light of existing laws and the current City ordinance will be
amended in the future because of anti-trust considerations in the
application of the ordinance.
OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS
- SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES
This
was the date set for
the receiving and opening of sealed bids
for
the sale of approximately
twenty (20) abandoned vehicles, five
(5)
of which are valued at
over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and
all
of which have been stored
at South Bend Auto Parts, 1802 South
Main
Street, South Bend,
Indiana. The Clerk tendered proofs of
publication
of Notice in
the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County
News
which were found to
be sufficient.
