326 <br />REGULAR MEETING IAUGUST 13,:1984 <br />to 9:00 P.M. for the Second Annual Westside Celebration. Mr. <br />Varga advised that this event is in celebration of the rich <br />talents that abound on the west side of South Bend and the day <br />will be full of entertainment with an expected gathering of <br />two thousand individuals to visit the Celebration Site (the <br />Colfax Cultural Center) during the hours of 11:00 a.m, to <br />7:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Division for review and recommendation <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT <br />HOLIDAY PARADE ON DECEMBER 1, 1984 REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Bernice Sonneborn, Chairman and <br />Mr. Rick Kring, Co -Chairman, advised that the South Bend Holiday <br />Parade Committee sponsored by the Center City Associates, P.O. <br />Box 1022, South Bend, Indiana, requests permission to have the <br />Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 1, 1984 from 9:00 a.m. to <br />approximately 10:30 a.m. The route requested is as follows: <br />Jefferson Street from William Street to the Court just before <br />St. Joseph Street through the Court to Washington Street dis- <br />banding at Michigan Street. Ms. Sonneborn advised that this <br />route is being requested as there will be construction areas <br />through the River Bend Plaza Mall area which will make the <br />parade route utilized in prior years unavailable. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the <br />above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recom- <br />mendation. <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND AIR SHOW TO HAVE TRAFFIC ASSISTANCE <br />FOR AIR SHOW - SEPTEMBER 15 & 16. 1984 REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Michael S. Krueger, SBN Airshow, <br />Inc., 2323 Foundation Drive, South Bend, Indiana, advised that <br />the South Bend Airshow 84 Inc., a benefit for multiple sclerosis, <br />will be held on September 15 & 16, 1984 and traffic assistance from <br />the City of South Bend is requested for this event. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the <br />above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST TO CLOSE <br />MC PHERSON STREET FOR CHURCH FESTIVAL - AUGUST 25, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager., <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and Captain Edward Friend, <br />Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the above <br />request submitted to the Board on August 6, 1984 and recommended <br />approval. It was noted that a ten foot (10') clear and unobstructed <br />lane for emergency vehicles must be maintained. Further, barricades <br />will be delivered by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting with the <br />Petitioner responsible for placement and removal of the barricades <br />for this event. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Vance and carried, the above recommendation was accepted <br />and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ESLINGER FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES, INC. <br />TO CONDUCT ANNUAL TENT SALE - SEPTEMBER 4-25, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Mr. Paul Roelke, Building Com- <br />missioner, Captain Edward Friend, Police Department Traffic <br />Division, and Assistant Fire Chief George Gyori have all reviewed <br />this request submitted to the Board on August 6, 1984 and recommend <br />approval.
