321. <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 6, 1984 <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following five (5) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />REVISE TO NO PARKING EMERGENCY VEHICLES ONLY - South <br />side of Bendix Drive West of Gate 4 (Goodland). <br />(Obsolete usage and obsolete sign - updated to <br />current use and signage). Requested by Hoye of Bendix. <br />REVISE TO STOP SIGN - On McArthur at Pyle. (Upgrade <br />of Traffic Control based -on reported conditions). <br />Requested by: Paula Thompson. <br />REVISE TO NO PARKING - Both sides of LaSalle from <br />Michigan Street/St. Joseph Street to Church P1. <br />(100 to 500 and W. 1/2 of 600 E. LaSalle). <br />(Exception - West 1/2 of the South side of 500 <br />E. LaSalle). To match design improvements. <br />REVISE TO NO PARKING - Both sides of Colfax from St. <br />Joseph Street to Church P1. (200 to 500 and W. 1/2 <br />of 600 E. Colfax). To match design improvements. <br />REVISE TO 1 HOUR PARKING 6 AM TO 6 PM EXCEPT SUNDAY - <br />West 1/2 of the South side of 500 E. LaSalle. To <br />match design improvements. <br />FILING OF STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />The report submitted to the Board indicates a total of thirteen <br />(13) outages for the period July 20, 1984 to August 2, 1984. <br />Upon a.motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the report as submitted was filed. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT. <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one hundred thirty-one (131) properties cleaned from <br />July 30, 1984 to August 3, 1984 was submitted. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />report as submitted was filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />City Controller Michael L. Vance submitted Claim Docket No. <br />14262 through Claim Docket No. 14669 and recommended approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the claims were approved and the report filed. <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br />CONCERNS OF COMMON COUNCIL PRESIDENT BEVERLIE BECK CONCERNING <br />APPARENT LEAKAGE OF OIL INTO THE ST. JOSEPH RIVER NEAR THE EAST RACEWAY <br />Common Council President Beverlie Beck was present at the meeting <br />and voiced her concern about an apparent leakage of oil into the <br />St. Joseph River near the East Raceway on Saturday, August 4, <br />1984. Ms. Beck stated that she had been contacted by the media <br />and was unable to contact City officials regarding this matter. <br />Ms. Beck asked Mr. Leszczynski, in the future, once he has investi- <br />gated a concern of this type, leave word with other City officials <br />on the status of the situation. Mr. Leszczynski advised that he <br />was present at the East Raceway on Saturday and that Park Super- <br />intendent James Seitz has authority over matters concerning the <br />raceway and he was at the site on Saturday and Sunday assessing <br />the situation. <br />
