322 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 6, 1984 <br />It was noted that apparently a fuel oil storage tank near the <br />raceway filled with water causing fuel in the tank to escape <br />into the river. The smell of the oil was noticed by individuals <br />utilizing the raceway and brought it to the attention of the <br />Police Department and media. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the <br />problem has been corrected and no harm to the raceway or the <br />fish life in the river occurred. <br />CONCERNS OF COMMON COUNCIL PRESIDENT BEVERLIE BECK <br />CONCERNING RECENT BID AWARD TO COMPUTERLAND FOR <br />COMPUTERS FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />Common Council President Beverlie Beck was present at the meeting <br />and advised that she has received a letter dated August 2, 1984 <br />from Mr. Bruno Eidietis, President, Computer Specialists, Division <br />of Audio Specialists, Inc., 401 North Michigan Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advising her that after meeting with representatives from <br />Crowe, Chizek and Company it has come to his attention that the <br />bid awarded to Computerland by the Board of Public Works on <br />July 30, 1984, did not include record lock -out on the data base. <br />In response to Mr. Eidietis' concern, Ms. Beck presented to the <br />Board a letter regarding the record lock -out feature on the data <br />base. In that letter she stated that the system, as presently <br />designed, does not allow a user to access a record without locking <br />out all other users, even those from his own department. In light <br />of this obviously causing slow response time, Ms. Beck wanted to <br />bring this matter to the attention of the Board and advise that <br />she is willing to assist in any way possible to resolve this <br />matter. Ms. Beck additionally advised the Board that Mr. <br />Eidietis tape recorded his meeting with Crowe Chizek and <br />Company, at which time the evaluation made of his bid was <br />explained. Ms. Beck urged Board members to listen to that tape <br />recording. <br />In response to Ms. Beck's concerns, Mr. Vance stated that he will <br />provide copies•of Mr. Eidietis' August 2, 1984 letter and Ms. <br />Beck's August 6, 1984 letter to Crowe Chizek and Company for <br />response. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the meeting adjourned at 10:15 a.m. <br />101111 <br />"d - A N - Ala V&M <br />Richard L.
