320 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 6, 1984 <br />of Simon Brothers, Inc. for <br />on -street parking privileges for <br />their upcoming food show and <br />recommend approval. Mr. Wadzinski <br />advised that the Petitioner <br />will be responsible for the bar- <br />ricades and portables to be <br />delivered by the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting. Mr. Wadzinski <br />further stated that a member of <br />his staff will be available <br />to assist in the proper placement <br />of all signs and barricades. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Vance and carried, the above <br />recommendation was accepted <br />and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY UNIT OF THE AMERICAN CANCER <br />SOCIETY TO CONDUCT INTERSECTION SOLICITATIONS - AUGUST 25, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and Captain Edward Friend, <br />Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request <br />of the American Cancer Society to conduct intersection solicita- <br />tions submitted to the Board on July 30, 1984, and recommend <br />approval of the following intersections which the City has <br />either whole or partial jurisdiction over: <br />1. Edison & Ironwood <br />2. Lafayette & Colfax <br />3. Michigan & Ewing <br />4. Michigan & Chippewa <br />5. Mishawaka Avenue & Ironwood <br />6. Western & Lombardy <br />7. Portage & Angela <br />8. Northshore Blvd. & Sample <br />9. Eddy & Angela (1/4 So. Bend/3/4 County/ND) <br />10. Lincolnway East & Ironwood (1/2 So. Bend/1/2 Mishawaka). <br />11. Ewing & Ironwood (1/2 So. Bend/l/2 Mishawaka) <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved subject to the American Cancer Society providing the <br />City with the appropriate Indemnification Agreement. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MIRACLE DELIVERANCE FELLOWSHIP CHURCH <br />TO CONDUCT TENT CRUSADE - JULY 30, 1984 - AUGUST 31, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Rev. Lord M. Hunt, President of <br />Miracle Deliverance Fellowship Church of South Bend, 417 Birdsell <br />South Bend, Indiana, submitted a request to the Board on July <br />2, 1984 to conduct a tent crusade at the corner of West <br />Washington Street and Grant Street from July 15, 1984 through <br />August 19, 1984. Because the crusade was postponed the request <br />was not approved at that time by the Board. At this time, how- <br />ever, Rev. Hunt has submitted a new request stating that the <br />crusade dates are now July 30, 1984 through August 31, 1984. <br />It was noted that favorable recommendations have been received <br />from the Building Department, Fire Department, Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and Police Department Traffic Division concerning <br />this event. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was approved retro- <br />active to July 30, 1984, and subject to the Petitioner filing <br />with the Board a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of <br />$1,000,000.00 liability naming the City of South Bend as an <br />additional insured for this event. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following four (4) handicapped parking permit - <br />applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller'-s <br />office for issuance of permits: <br />Dorothy I. Dreesbach, 1300 Cantondale, Mish. <br />Harold A. Dreher, 1533 Virginia, S.B. <br />Mary E. North, 529 Leland, S.B. <br />Betty Lynk, 201 N. College, S.B. <br />
