<br />REQUEST OF ESLINGER FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES, INC. TO
<br />CONDUCT ANNUAL TENT SALE - SEPTEMBER 4-`25, 1984, REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas D. Eslinger, President,
<br />Eslinger Furniture & Appliances, Inc., 2701 South Michigan
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that Eslinger's is preparing
<br />for their annual tent sale to be held from September 4-25, 1984
<br />and is requesting permission to erect a tent for the sale. Mr.
<br />Eslinger provided with his letter a letter from City Awning of
<br />South Bend, 1835 South Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />certifying as to Flame Retardancy of the 30x9O tent along with
<br />a site plan indicating where the tent will be located. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and.
<br />carried, the above request was referred to the Building Depart-
<br />ment ' Bureau of Traffic & Lighting, Fire Department and Police
<br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST TO CLOSE
<br />MC PHERSON STREET FOR CHURCH FESTIVAL - AUGUST '25. 1984 REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Dorothy Bowles, on behalf of Rev.
<br />Cleophus Austin, Associate Pastor of Pentecostal Church of God.
<br />in Christ, 201 North Kenmore Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised
<br />that the church is having a "Summer Festival" on Saturday,
<br />August 25, 1984 as a fundraising project and they would like
<br />McPherson Street, between Western Avenue and Napier Street
<br />closed for the Festival from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the
<br />above request was referred to.the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
<br />and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recom-
<br />mendation.
<br />APPROVE TITLE SHEETS - EAST BANK DEVELOPMENT PHASE II
<br />AND KENSINGTON FARMS EAST, SECTION 3, PART 5
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Title Sheets for the above referred
<br />to projects were being presented at this time for execution.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance
<br />and carried, the above referred to Title Sheets were approved
<br />and signed.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF CITY AWNING OF SOUTH BEND TO ERECT AN
<br />ENTRANCE CANOPY AT TRAVELMORE, 212 WEST COLFAX STREETS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and Mr. Paul L. Roelke, Building
<br />Commissioner, have reviewed the request of City Awning to erect
<br />an entrance canopy at Travelmore, 212 West Colfax, said request
<br />submitted to the Board on July 30, 1984, and recommend approval.
<br />It was noted that approval was recommended subject to City
<br />Awning securing the necessary permission from the Indiana
<br />Department of Highways as Colfax (U.S. 20) is a state highway.
<br />After approval from the state is received, City Awning may
<br />secure a Building Permit for the erection of the canopy from
<br />the Building Department. It was noted that as the canopy
<br />will extend over the public right-of-way, Travelmore will be
<br />required to provide the City with a Certificate of Insurance
<br />in the amount of $1,000,000.00 liability naming the City of
<br />South Bend as an additional insured. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above
<br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SIMON BROTHERS, INC. TO HAVE ON -STREET
<br />PARKING PRIVILEGES FOR UPCOMING FOOD SHOW- SEPTEMBER 29 &'30, 1984
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and Captain Edward Friend,
<br />Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request
