REGULAR MEETING JULY 23. 1984
291
I
It was noted that when bids for this equipment were opened by
the Board on January 16, 1984, Codex Corporation was the only
vendor submitting a bid. Chief Hurley.advised that the
Addendum submitted on June 15, 1984, met original bid
specifications and the multiplexer introduced in that Addendum
by Codex with built-in Hewlett Packard spoofing is less than
the bid submitted by Codex on January 16, 1984. It was
further recommended that monthly maintenance be omitted at this
time. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the data communications
hardware in question for the Police Department will be a computer
link to the police substations.
Upon a mtoion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried,
the above recommendation was accepted and the bid awarded.
APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT
The following Community Development contract was presented to
the Board for approval:
FRIENDS OF THE UNEMPLOYED
The targeted goals for the Friends of the Unemployed
Activity are to assist 60 unemployed persons in
obtaining job placement counseling and provide 120
persons with employment information through a
walk-in job clinic. The total cost of this
activity shall not exceed $7,000.00.
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance
and carried, the above contract was approved and executed.
APPROVE CONTINUATION OF TRAFFIC AGREEMENT T-246 -
INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS
Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Light-
ing, submitted to the Board for approval a letter notifying
the Indiana Department of Highways of the City of South
Bend's intentions to continue the on -going Agreement No.
T-246 for traffic signal maintenance and specific routine
maintenance from June of 1984 until January 31, 1987. The
letter further indicated that as stated in the original
Agreement that either party may cancel this Agreement
within ninety (90) days through written notice. Upon a
motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
carried, the above referred to Letter of Continuation of
Traffic Agreement T-246 was approved and executed.
APPROVE REVISED AGREEMENT WITH INDIANA & MICHIGAN
ELECTRIC COMPA14Y FOR MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY,
701 WEST SAMPLE STREET
Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. P.H, McDonald, Power
Engineer, Indiana & Michigan Electric. Company, 220 West
Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, has indicated that on
November 28, 1983, the Indiana Public Service Commission
approved changes in the "terms of contract" for tariff.
LGS. The initial term is still one (1) year, but the
cancellation clause is now six (6) months at any time after
the initial one (1) year term. Mr. McDonald stated that
formally, the City could only cancel sixty (60) days prior
to the anniversary date of the contract. If that date was
missed, the City would have had to go a full year before
any changes could be made. The referred to Agreement reflects
this change and also updates the City's Agreement to reflect
present requirements. An analysis of the City's account for
for the Municipal Services Facility indicates LGS tariff to
be the most economical at existing levels. Upon a motion
made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried,
the above Agreement was approved and executed.
