283 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 16, 1984 <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE THE 2300 & 2400 BLOCKS OF UNION <br />AVENUE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY (AUGUST 19, 1984) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Julie E. Schreiber, 2402 Union <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the residents of <br />Union Avenue are planning their annual block party for <br />August 19, 1984 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and are <br />requesting that the 2300 and 2400 blocks of Union Avenue <br />from Solomen to MacArthur be closed for this event. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION TO <br />ERECT A JOGGING GAME COURSE REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Michael M. Smorin, YMCA Physical <br />Director, 1201 Northside Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, advised <br />that the South Bend YMCA has been the beneficiary of a grant <br />from the Wells Fargo Bank National Fitness Campaign and the St. <br />Joe Medical Center to erect a jogging game course. Therefore, <br />permission is requested to erect the course in the following area: <br />Beginning in front of the YMCA, going east <br />to the Indiana University Dental Building, <br />backtracking going west to the Sample <br />Street bridge, then turning around going <br />east finishing in front of the YMCA. <br />Mr. Smorin advised that the entire course would be along the <br />St. Joseph River between the river and Northside Boulevard with <br />a total of twenty (20) stations. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of.Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF SAINT JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER <br />TO INSTALL SIGNAGE REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Larry Tebelak, Project Manager, <br />Saint Joseph's Medical Center, 811 East Madison Street, P.O. <br />Box 1935, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to install <br />a new sign for the Emergency Department on the corner of <br />LaSalle and St. Louis Streets. Attached to the request was <br />a sign location plan and sign detail information. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, Police Department Traffic Division, <br />Building Department and City Attorney's Office for review <br />and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF METAL RESOURCES CORPORATION TO INSTALL <br />TWO (2) TEMPORARY MOBILE TRAILER UNITS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that.Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Mr. Paul L. Roelke, Building <br />Commissioner, have reviewed the request of the Metal Resources <br />Corporation to locate two (2) temporary mobile trailer units <br />on their property and recommend approval. Approval was recom- <br />mended subject to Metal Resources providing a temporary parking <br />lot with a minimum of one (1) space per every two (2) employees, <br />said lot to be paved if use of temporary trailers is over <br />twenty-four (24) months and subject to the trailers being at <br />least twenty feet (20') from the property line and twenty <br />feet (20') apart for fire protection, unless trailers are <br />hooked together as one unit. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above <br />recommendations were accepted and the request approved. <br />
