1274 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 9, 1984 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CAR WASHES FOR CITY.VEHICLES FOR THE CALENDAR <br />YEAR BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 1984 AND ENDING JULY :31,'1985 <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to service. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- <br />County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />DON'S MARATHON & CAR WASH, INC. <br />1836 South Michigan. Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />HI -SPEED AUTO WASH <br />609 East LaSalle Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Board Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer advised that the bid sub- <br />mitted by Don's Marathon & Car Wash, Inc. was signed by the <br />Secretary of the Corporation only and not also by the President <br />and is thereby defective. <br />Further, Ms. Pfotenhauer advised that the bid submitted by Hi - <br />Speed Auto Wash contained a check as bid security which was not <br />signed and which was not a Certified Check thereby rendering this <br />bidalso defective. <br />Based on both bids being defective, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the two bids were <br />rejected and the Clerk instructed to readvertise for this service. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 14-1984 - DISPOSAL OF <br />OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT (ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Engineering Department has <br />requested permission to declare obsolete and dispose of office <br />and miscellaneous equipment that is broken and no longer needed <br />by the Department. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the following Resolution No. <br />14-1984 was adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14-1984 <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined <br />Works that the following equipment <br />the Engineering Department of the <br />ITEM <br />Pitney -Bowes 250 Copier <br />(does not work, no one <br />would take it for trade-in) <br />Calculator Stand <br />by the Board of Public <br />is no longer needed by <br />City of South Bend: <br />QUANTITY <br />l <br />Secretary Chair 2 <br />Office Chair 2 <br />Drafting Stool 2 <br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-6 permits the disposal of <br />personal property no longer needed or obsolete. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend that the above equipment is no longer <br />needed by the City of South Bend. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Engineering Department of <br />the City of South Bend be authorized to dispose of said equipment <br />and remove same from the City Inventory. <br />
