REGULAR MEETING JUNE 4, 1984 <br />1:30 p.m. Mr. Woodworth advised that the Kiwanis will be manning <br />approximately twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) corners around <br />South Bend, except for the downtown area. Further, one -hundred <br />per cent (100%) of the proceeds of this sale are used for <br />various community projects, primarily for underprivileged and <br />handicapped children. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred <br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF ST. STEPHEN'S PARISH TO CLOSE MAC PHERSON STREET <br />FOR PARISH ETHNIC FESTIVAL (JULY 8, 1984) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Rev. Thomas F. Lemos, C.S.C., Pastor, <br />St. Stephen's Parish, 1102 West Thomas Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to close MacPherson Street from Friday, July <br />6, 1984 at 3:00 p.m. through Sunday, July 8, 1984 for the St. <br />Stephen's.Parish Ethnic Festival. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request <br />was referred to -the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF. WNSN 101.5 RADIO TO SECURE TEMPORARY PARKING <br />FOR PROMOTIONAL COCA COLA TRAILER (JUNE 19. 1984) <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Terry Knust, General Sales Manager, <br />WNSN-FM 101.5 Radio, 300 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requested permission to secure temporary parking in the <br />restricted area in front of Edgertons Travel Service, 226 South <br />Main Street, on June 19, 1984 from approximately 11:00 a.m, to <br />1:30 p.m. Mr. Knust advised that the vehicle to be parked in <br />this spot would be a Coca Cola promotional trailer with the <br />dimensions of 7' by 7' with a full length of thirteen (13) feet. <br />The National Bank & Trust Company, which occupies the retail <br />space south of Edgertons has agreed to close their drive up <br />window and lane north of their office in order to alleviate any <br />vision problems resulting from cars wishing to enter Main Street <br />from this lane. Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. <br />Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has reviewed <br />this request and recommends approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Mr. Wadzinski's <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ACCURATE DESIGN SERVICE TO ERECT <br />AN AWNING AT 1340 & 1342 LINCOLNWAY WEST <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. James Brenay, Accurate Design Service, <br />1417 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a print of the <br />proposed changes to the facade of the building at 1340 and 1342 <br />Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, and a request that they be <br />permitted to extend the awning two (2) feet over the property line. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Paul Roelke, Building Commissioner <br />and Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />have reviewed this request and recommend approval subject to <br />Accurate Design Service securing the necessary permission from <br />the Indiana Department of Highways as Lincolnway West is a State <br />Highway. It was noted that after permission is secured from the <br />State Highway Department, Accurate Design must apply for a <br />building permit and must provide to the office of the Board of <br />Public Works a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of <br />$1,000,000.00 liability naming the City of South Bend as an <br />additional insured. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by -Mr. Vance and carried, the request was approved <br />subject to the stipulations mentioned above. <br />
