REGULAR MEETING JUNE 4, 1984 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE 1100 BLOCK OF VICTORIA STREET <br />FOR A NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY (JUNE 23, 1984) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has reviewed the request of Ms. <br />Kathy Harsh Jonas submitted to the Board on May 29, 1984 for <br />the closure of a street for a neighborhood block party and <br />recommends approval -subject to the maintenance of a ten (10) <br />foot clear and unobstructed lane for emergency purposes. It <br />was noted that the Petitioner is responsible for the closing <br />and opening of the street and alleys with barricades to be <br />provided by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Mr. <br />Wadzinski's recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />DENY REQUEST OF GRACE A.M.E. ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE ALLEY <br />BEHIND THE CHURCH ON VASSAR STREET (AUGUST 20-26, 1984) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of,. <br />the Grace A.M.E. Zion Church to close the alley behind their <br />church submitted to the Board on May 29, 1984 and recommends <br />denial of the request. Mr. Wadzinski recommended denial for <br />the purposes of access of safety vehicles to the church and <br />residential area and because the alley serves residences in <br />the area. It was determined that the extra four or five <br />parking spaces that would be provided by the closing of this <br />alley would not be worth.the price of safety. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />Mr. Wadzinski's recommendation was accepted and the request <br />denied. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT AT IRELAND HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION - <br />1ST SECTION AND IRELAND WOODS SUBDIVISION - SECTION ONE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of <br />Mr. Phillip Ashton to install street lights at the above <br />locations submitted to the Board on May 29, 1984, and recommends <br />that one street light be installed on Sampson Street as suggested. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following Open Air Stand <br />license application has been received: <br />NAME: St. Evans Fireworks <br />BY: Ron Evans <br />STAND TO BE LOCATED AT: 1129 North Bendix <br />DATES: June 27, 1984 - July 5, 1984 <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: Fireworks <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that favorable recommendations <br />have been received from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Police <br />Department and Department of Code Enforcement on the above <br />application. It was noted that additionally submitted with the <br />application was a letter from the property owner granting per- <br />mission to erect an open air stand on said property and a copy <br />of the Fireworks Stand Retail Sales Permit issued by the State <br />of Indiana Fire Marshall. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above license application <br />was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for <br />issuance. <br />
