REGULAR MEETING JUNE 4, 1984 APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE 1100 BLOCK OF VICTORIA STREET FOR A NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY (JUNE 23, 1984) Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has reviewed the request of Ms. Kathy Harsh Jonas submitted to the Board on May 29, 1984 for the closure of a street for a neighborhood block party and recommends approval -subject to the maintenance of a ten (10) foot clear and unobstructed lane for emergency purposes. It was noted that the Petitioner is responsible for the closing and opening of the street and alleys with barricades to be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Mr. Wadzinski's recommendation was accepted and the request approved. DENY REQUEST OF GRACE A.M.E. ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE ALLEY BEHIND THE CHURCH ON VASSAR STREET (AUGUST 20-26, 1984) Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of,. the Grace A.M.E. Zion Church to close the alley behind their church submitted to the Board on May 29, 1984 and recommends denial of the request. Mr. Wadzinski recommended denial for the purposes of access of safety vehicles to the church and residential area and because the alley serves residences in the area. It was determined that the extra four or five parking spaces that would be provided by the closing of this alley would not be worth.the price of safety. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Mr. Wadzinski's recommendation was accepted and the request denied. APPROVE REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT AT IRELAND HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION - 1ST SECTION AND IRELAND WOODS SUBDIVISION - SECTION ONE Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of Mr. Phillip Ashton to install street lights at the above locations submitted to the Board on May 29, 1984, and recommends that one street light be installed on Sampson Street as suggested. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following Open Air Stand license application has been received: NAME: St. Evans Fireworks BY: Ron Evans STAND TO BE LOCATED AT: 1129 North Bendix DATES: June 27, 1984 - July 5, 1984 FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: Fireworks Mr. Leszczynski further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Police Department and Department of Code Enforcement on the above application. It was noted that additionally submitted with the application was a letter from the property owner granting per- mission to erect an open air stand on said property and a copy of the Fireworks Stand Retail Sales Permit issued by the State of Indiana Fire Marshall. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for issuance.
