REGULAR MEETING MAY 21, 1984 <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 (FINAL) AND PROJECT COMPLETION <br />AFFIDAVIT - MONROE PARK PHASE V (LOT IMPROVEMENTS) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Ritschard Brothers, Inc., 1204 West <br />Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, has submitted Change Order <br />No. 1 (Final) indicating that the contract amount be decreased <br />by $8,950.00 for a new contract amount including this Change <br />Order in the amount of $15,319.00. Additionally submitted was <br />the Project Completion Affidavit indicating this new final cost. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, Change Order No. 1 (Final) and the Project Completion <br />Affidavit were approved. <br />- <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />ON -SITE PAVING ETHANOL PLANT PROJECT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau <br />of Public Construction, requested that the Board advertise for <br />the receipt of bids for the "On -Site Paving Ethanol Plant" Project. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the approximate cost of this project <br />is $450,000.00 and that UDAG Funds will be utilized. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was approved. <br />REQUESTOFSAINT JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER TO CONDUCT <br />1984 SPORTSMED 10K - OCTOBER 28. 1984 REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Mark J. Neff, Director, Sports <br />Medicine/Health Awareness Department, Saint Joseph's Medical <br />Center, 811 East Madison Street, P.O. Box 1935, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requested appropriate approvals for the fourth annual. <br />running of the Sportsmed 10K roadrace to be held on Sunday, <br />October 28, 1984 with the 10K race beginning at 2:00 p.m. and <br />the Fun Run beginning at 2:05 p.m. The route for the Fun Run <br />is as follows: start at Jefferson, to Notre Dame Avenue, turn <br />left on Wayne, turn right at Frances to'Northside Boulevard to <br />finish line. The route for the 10K will be the same as utilized <br />in prior years and is as follows: start at Jefferson to Notre Dame <br />to Northside Boulevard to 26th Street to North Side Boulevard to <br />35th Street and back to finish line down North Side Boulevard to <br />Jefferson. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the <br />Bureau of. Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND PUBLIC RECREATION COMMISSION TO CONDUCT <br />ANNUAL ETHNIC FESTIVAL 5-ROAD RUN - JULY 1, 1984 REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert C. Goodrich, Director, South <br />Bend Public Recreation Commission, 727 South Eddy Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct the Annual Festival <br />5-Road Race in conjunction with the Ethnic Festival Celebration. <br />The run is. scheduled for Sunday, July 1, 1984 beginning at 8:00 a.m. <br />The start of the race will be at the east entrance to the Century <br />Center parkinglot on Jefferson Street with the race course as <br />follows: <br />East on Jefferson to St. Louis, South on St. Louis <br />to Northside, along the River to 21st Street, circle <br />four blocks back to Northside and back to Footbridge <br />in Howard Park over Bridge on sidewalk along river <br />back to Jefferson (staying on sidewalk) back to <br />Howard Park Parking lot. <br />Additionally, a shorter race will be run at the same time using the <br />same starting location but veering off at the foot bridge, crossing <br />the river, staying on the sidewalk and back to Howard Park. The <br />race, from start to finish, should be completed in 30-35 minutes <br />with presentations to be made in the parking lot at Howard Park <br />immediately following the race. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />1 <br />1 <br />Division for review and recommendation. <br />
