Hinsch, ,Sales Manager, City <br />Awning of South Bend, 1835 South Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to erect an entrance canopy across the City <br />sidewalk at Valley American Building, PDH Products, Main Street <br />Entrance. Mr. Hinsch indicated that the front edge of the canopy <br />will be one (1') foot from the edge of the existing curb, the <br />front legs will be three (3') feet from the curb edge, the front <br />and sides. of 1" tubular steel frame will be eight (8') feet from <br />the sidewalk and the bottom of the cloth valance will be seven (7') <br />feet from the sidewalk. Mr. Hinsch additionally provided a drawing <br />with his request. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was referred to the <br />Department of Code Enforcement and the Bureau of Traffic and Light- <br />ing for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF RAINBOW COALITION OF ST. JOSEPH <br />COUNTY TO OPERATE SOUND TRUCK <br />In a letter to the Board Mr. David P. James, 714 Portage Court, <br />South Bend, Indiana, on behalf of the Rainbow Coalition of St. <br />Joseph County requested permission to utilize one and possibly <br />two sound trucks sometime during the period of time prior to May <br />8, 1984 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. should the need arise to <br />publicize the visit of the Rev. Jesse Jackson to the South Bend <br />Community. Mr. James additionally requested permission to operate <br />the sound truck on Monday, May 7, 1984 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. <br />and on Tuesday, May 8, 1984 from 10:00 a.m, to 6:00 p.m. for the <br />purpose of encouraging citizens to vote. He indicated that they <br />will use the "Grand Master Flash" music together with an appropriate <br />message, non-commercial in nature and within the decible limits of <br />the South Bend Municipal Code. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, <br />- <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above request was <br />approved. <br />REQUEST OF SPANISH-SPEAKING USHER'S CLUB OF ST. STEPHEN'S <br />PARISH TO CLOSE ALLEYS FOR MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION, <br />MAY 13, 1984. REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Jose Garza, President of Los Porteros,, <br />Spanish Speaking Club of St. Stephen's Parish, requested permission <br />to close the alley at the entrance of and exit ends of Huron Street, <br />the middle alley coming from the main alley facing toward Walnut <br />and the entrance and exit side from 404 South Walnut Street for <br />their annual Mother's Day Celebration at Pulaski Park, from 1:00. <br />to 7:00 p.m, on Sunday, May 13, 1984. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request <br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
