<br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - LANDMARK BUSINESS
<br />PARK, SECTION ONE, CURBS, STREETS AND OTHER NECESSARY INCIDENTAL
<br />CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of
<br />Public Construction, recommended the Board accept the low bid of
<br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, Indiana, in
<br />the amount of $127,000.50. Mr. Leszczynski further advised that
<br />in accordance with the award of this bid, a contract in said
<br />amount was being submitted for Board approval'. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the
<br />above bid was awarded and the contract approved subject to the
<br />filing of the appropriate Certificate of Insurance. It was noted
<br />that the Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond
<br />were submitted with the contract and were accepted for filing.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS - ST.
<br />JOSEPH COUNTY JOB TRAINING PROGRAM GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Elroy J. Kelzenberg, Executive
<br />Director-, St. Joseph County Job Training Program, 317 West
<br />Washington, P.O. Box 1048, South Bend, Indiana 46624, requested that
<br />the Board advertise for receipt of proposals for St. Joseph County
<br />Job Training Program Group Health Insurance. Mr. Kelzenberg requested
<br />that proposals be received and opened on April 30, 1984. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the
<br />above request was approved.
<br />FILING OF BILL OF SALE EVIDENCING PAYMENT IN FULL -
<br />FIRST MUNICIPAL LEASING CORPORATION
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to a Lease/Purchase Agreement
<br />entered into with First Municipal Leasing Corporation on December 7
<br />1981 for three (3) 1982 Model 1954 International trucks, First
<br />Municipal Leasing is providing a Bill of Sale evidencing payment
<br />in full in connection with the above referred to Agreement. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried,
<br />the above Bill of Sale was accepted for filing as submitted.
<br />REQUEST OF ATHLETIC ANNEX TO CONDUCT TRIATHALON
<br />(JULY 8, 1984) REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Dean A. Reinke, Athletic Annex, 1250
<br />Scottsdale Mall, East Ireland Road, South Bend, Indiana, requested
<br />permission to sponsor a South Bend Triathalon on Sunday, July 8,
<br />1984. Mr. Reinke indicated that the Triathalon as a new sport
<br />has taken off dramatically and there has been tremendous interest
<br />in the South Bend area for the Athletic Annex to sponsor such an
<br />event.. He'proposed the following route for the Triathalon on
<br />Sunday, July 8, 1984, beginning at 6:30 a.m.:
<br />Swimmers would swim in Bass Lake at Chain-O-Lakes
<br />Conservation Club. They would get out of the water
<br />and get on their bicycles on the following route:
<br />Southporte Road from Chain-O-Lakes to Quince Road,
<br />Quince Road to Bell, Bell to Dunn, Dunn to Pear,
<br />Pear to Edison Road, Edison Road east to Pine,
<br />Pine north to U.S. 20, U.S. 20 to the bypass. The
<br />bypass down to the off ramp at U.S. 31 and back on
<br />going the other direction west going to U.S. 23,
<br />getting off at U.S. 23, going to Ewing Avenue,
<br />Ewing to Gertrude at Rum Village Park. They would
<br />make the exchange and run the following proposed
<br />route: Gertrude Street to Ireland Road, Ireland to
<br />Keria Trail, Keria to Main Street, Main to Ewing,
<br />Ewing back to Rum Village and finish in the park.
