<br />APPROVE TITLE SHEET - SIGNALIZATION - INTERSECTION OF MAPLE ROAD
<br />& STATE ROAD 23 AND INTERSECTION AT OLIVE STREET & STATE ROAD 23
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Title Sheet for the above referred
<br />to signalization was being presented at this time for execution.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski' seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above Title Sheet was approved and signed.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BICYCLE AND UNCLAIMED PROPERTY
<br />AUCTION AND CONTRACT WITH TETZLAFF AUCTION SERVICE
<br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Dan D. Thompson and
<br />Services Division Chief Spandward T. Mitchem requested permission
<br />to dispose of unclaimed bicycles and other unclaimed property at
<br />a public auction to be held on Saturday, May 5, 1984. The auction
<br />will be conducted by Tetzlaff's Auction Service, 21986 Candle Ct.,
<br />South Bend, Indiana and Mr. Burt Tetzlaff, the owner, has agreed
<br />to conduct the auction as a donation to.the City. The auction
<br />will be held from 8:30 a.m, to 1:30 p.m. at the rear of the
<br />police wing of the Municipal Services Facility, 701 West Sample
<br />Street, South Bend. Submitted with the letter was a Contract for
<br />Sale of Personal Property at Public Auction from Tetzlaff's Auction
<br />Service which indicated that the services were being donated.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above request was approved and the contract was
<br />approved and executed.
<br />REQUEST OF NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH INVOLVEMENT COUNCIL TO CONDUCT
<br />REGIONAL FINALS FOR INTERNATIONAL AMERICAN SOAP BOX DERBY REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. J. Edward Talley, Adult Volunteer
<br />Director, Neighborhood Youth Involvement Council, P.O. Box 1132,.
<br />South Bend, Indiana, 46624 requested the necessary traffic control,
<br />street closing and reservation of the date of July 7, 1984 on
<br />behalf of the Neighborhood Youth Involvement Council and the
<br />Near Northwest Neighborhood Association, Inc. for Regional Finals
<br />for the International American Soap Box Derby Time Trials. Mr.
<br />Talley stated that 1984 marks the 10th year anniversary,for the
<br />NNN and for the youth's part in this celebration, the NYIC will
<br />sponsor the soap box races, under the guidance and authority of
<br />the International All -American Soap Box Derby Control Board. The
<br />area that is being considered for the event, will be the hill in
<br />the 1300 block of Riverside Drive from the intersection of Hudson
<br />Avenue to the intersection of Angela; and Angela, from the inter-
<br />section of Woodward to the intersection of North Shore Drive. The
<br />hours of the requested street closings would be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
<br />Saturday, July 7, 1984. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred
<br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department
<br />Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUESTS OF ATHLETIC ANNEX TO CONDUCT RUNNING EVENTS REFERRED
<br />Mr. Dean A. Reinke, President, Athletic Annex,.1250 Scottsdale Mall,
<br />East Ireland Road, South Bend, Indiana, presented to the Board the
<br />following requests for running events
<br />1. On behalf of the Athletic Annex and American United
<br />Life Insurance Company per is requested to
<br />use a course from Rum Village Park on Sunday, May
<br />20, 1984 at 8:00 a.m. The following course is being
<br />proposed start in Rum Village Park, exiting run
<br />Gertrude -Street, running south to Ireland Road, run
<br />to Chippewa, .Chippewa to Main Street, Main Street
<br />north to Ewing, Ewing back to the park and finish
<br />at Rum Village.
