REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 27, 1983 APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT REPAIR OF ISLAND PARK WALL (LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC..) Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on December 12, 1983, to LaFree Excavating, Inc., 11252 West Third Street, Osceola, Indiana, in the amount of $124,252.85 for the above referred to project, a contract.in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the contract was approved subject to the appropriate insurance being filed. It was noted that the Performance & Payment Bond is on file. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - DATA COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT — POLICE DEPARTMENT In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Dan D. Thompson requested permission to advertise for receipt of bids for the following data communication equipment for the Police Department: Two (2) 2400 baud Asyn Modems and cables Six (6) 4800 baud Modems and cables Six (6) Statistical Multiplexers Installation of equipment and cables Captain Frank Mattei of the Police Department was present and advised that the above equipment is needed in order to transmit data via phone lines to the Police Substations. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately thirteen (13) abandoned vehicles, eight (8) of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and all of which are being stored at Hurwich Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored more than the thirty (30) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was approved and a date of January 9, 1984, was established for the receiving of sealed bids. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following application has been received: Name: Cambodia's Egg Rolls By: Thien Van Trinh Address: 1009 Patty Lane, South Bend, Indiana Stand to be located at: 135 N. Michigan (River Bend Plaza) Dates: Year-round, Mon. thru Saturday, 10:00-5:00 p.m. For the purpose of: Selling food Mr. Leszczynski further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Department of Code. Enforcement, Fire Department and Health Department for the above application Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for issuance.
