REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 27, 1983 <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT REPAIR OF ISLAND <br />PARK WALL (LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC..) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded <br />on December 12, 1983, to LaFree Excavating, Inc., 11252 West <br />Third Street, Osceola, Indiana, in the amount of $124,252.85 <br />for the above referred to project, a contract.in said amount <br />was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />contract was approved subject to the appropriate insurance <br />being filed. It was noted that the Performance & Payment Bond is on file. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />DATA COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT — POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Dan D. Thompson requested <br />permission to advertise for receipt of bids for the following <br />data communication equipment for the Police Department: <br />Two (2) 2400 baud Asyn Modems and cables <br />Six (6) 4800 baud Modems and cables <br />Six (6) Statistical Multiplexers <br />Installation of equipment and cables <br />Captain Frank Mattei of the Police Department was present and <br />advised that the above equipment is needed in order to transmit <br />data via phone lines to the Police Substations. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, <br />requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately <br />thirteen (13) abandoned vehicles, eight (8) of which are valued <br />at over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and all of which are being <br />stored at Hurwich Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle Avenue, South <br />Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored <br />more than the thirty (30) days, identification checks had been <br />run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the request was approved and a date of January 9, <br />1984, was established for the receiving of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following application has been <br />received: <br />Name: Cambodia's Egg Rolls <br />By: Thien Van Trinh <br />Address: 1009 Patty Lane, South Bend, Indiana <br />Stand to be located at: 135 N. Michigan (River Bend Plaza) <br />Dates: Year-round, Mon. thru Saturday, 10:00-5:00 p.m. <br />For the purpose of: Selling food <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that favorable recommendations <br />have been received from the Department of Code. Enforcement, Fire <br />Department and Health Department for the above application Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above license application was approved and referred to the <br />Deputy Controller's office for issuance. <br />
