53 <br />REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 27, 1983 <br />Mr. James-Wensits of the South Bend Tribune inquired about. <br />the three (3) scrap dealers that have not complied with <br />license requirements and asked what effect their non-compliance <br />would have on their businesses. Board Attorney Carolyn V. <br />Pfotenhauer advised that businesses have until January 31, <br />1984 to apply for a license and technically they are in <br />violation of the ordinance.as of February 1, 1984 if they <br />do not apply or do not comply. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, Resolution No. 27-1983, recommending Council <br />approval of license renewals for various scrap dealers was <br />adopted and the Clerk was instructed to prepare the necessary <br />Council Resolution for final action by the Council at its <br />first meeting in Janaury. Resolution No. 27-1983 is as follows: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 27-1983 <br />WHEREAS, license renewal applications for scrap and <br />junk dealers for the year 1984 have been received by <br />the Board of Public Works; and <br />WHEREAS, inspections of the properties have been <br />completed by the Department of Code Enforcement and <br />the Fire Prevention Bureau as required by Chapter 4, <br />Article 4, Section 4-51 of the Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Code Enforcement and <br />the Fire Prevention Bureau have found that such <br />premises are fit and proper for the maintenance <br />and operation of such a business; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 4, Article 4, Section 4-51 of <br />the Municipal Code requires, approval of a <br />Resolution of the Board of Public Works recommend- <br />ing the renewal of the license applications. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of <br />Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />that the license renewal applications for the <br />following scrap and junk dealers be recommended <br />favorably based upon the satisfactory review of <br />the properties by the Department of Code Enforce- <br />ment and the Fire Prevention Bureau: <br />Herbert Alpern-Max Schneider Co. <br />429 W. <br />Indiana <br />Hurwich Iron Co., Inc. <br />2016 <br />W. <br />Washington <br />Hurwich Iron Co., Inc. <br />1700 <br />Lafayette <br />Hurwich Iron Co., Inc. <br />1602 <br />S. <br />Lafayette <br />Hurwich Iron Co., Inc. <br />1610 <br />Circle <br />Ave. <br />.Metal Resources Corporation <br />3113 <br />S. <br />Gertrude <br />Metal Resources Corporation <br />1147 <br />Prairie <br />Ave. <br />North Side Iron & Paper Co. <br />3123 <br />S. <br />Gertrude.. <br />Rema Auto Parts <br />1819 <br />S. <br />Main <br />South Bend Auto Parts, Inc. <br />307 W. <br />Calvert <br />South Bend Baling & Iron Co. <br />1420 <br />S. <br />Walnut <br />South Bene Iron & Metal Co. <br />429 W. <br />Indiana Ave. <br />South Bend Waste Paper Co. <br />1519 <br />S. <br />Franklin <br />Steve & Gene's Auto Truck Salvage <br />3109 <br />S. <br />Gertrude <br />Weaver Truck & Equipment Co. <br />3700 <br />S. <br />Gertrude <br />Western Ave. Iron & Metal Co. <br />3123 <br />S. <br />Gertrude <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this <br />Resolution <br />shall be <br />submitted to the Common Council for <br />its consideration <br />and adoption of an appropriate Resolution. <br />Dated: December 27, 1983 BOARD OF <br />PUBLIC <br />WORKS <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ John E.
