REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 17, 1985 <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above addendum was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS OFFICIAL ACTION - U.S. 33 <br />AND SAMPLE STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering, has reviewed an Indiana Department of <br />Highways Official Action establishing a change in preferentiality <br />at the intersection of U.S. 33 and Sample Street and recommends <br />approval. The Official Action indicates that preferentiality <br />shall be established at the intersection of U.S. 33 (Lincolnway <br />East) and Sample Street in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph <br />County, as follows: <br />This intersection is signalized and in the event of the need <br />for a flashing operation of the signals, they shall flash RED <br />to all approaches. <br />All traffic on all approaches shall Stop before entering the <br />intersection of U.S. 33 (Lincolnway East) and Sample Street <br />during the flashing operation of the traffic signals. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the recommendation as submitted was accepted and the <br />Official Action approved and executed. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT WINTER CELEBRATION 5K RUN - FEBRUARY 1, 1986, <br />REFERRED <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office <br />of Community Affairs requested permission to conduct the annual <br />5K run in conjunction with the 5th Annual Winter Celebration to <br />be held on Saturday, February 1, 1986 at Erskine Park. The route <br />to be utilized is as follows: <br />Miami Street north to Golfview; west to Fellows, south to <br />Ireland and east back to Miami Street. <br />The starting time of the run is 9:00 a.m. with Mr. Neil Wozniak <br />acting as race director. Ms. Dobski further advised that the <br />race will benefit Special Olympics. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MICHIANA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL TO CONDUCT <br />CHRISTMAS EVE ACTIVITY ON RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office <br />of Community Affairs, submitted to the Board a request on behalf <br />of the Michiana Community Hospital (formerly Osteopathic <br />Hospital), to host a holiday coffee and cookies party on the <br />Plaza. The intention of the hospital is to actually have the <br />party on St. Joseph's Bank Plaza and to use River Bend Plaza only <br />if they need additional space. The activity will be held on <br />December 24, 1985 from 11:00 a.m. - 2 p.m. Mr. Leszczynski <br />advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, Division of <br />Engineering, has reviewed this request and recommends approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the request as submitted was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR THE RECEIPT OF LETTER PROPOSALS - PIGEON <br />CONTROL AT WESTERN AVENUE VIADUCT AT WALNUT STREET AND PIER PARK <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk, advised <br />that the City's current contract for pigeon control expires on <br />December 31, 1985. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />
