<br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 812 WEST NAPIER STREET
<br />REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Levester Buckingham, Jr., 5003 West
<br />Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana, on behalf of the Naptown
<br />Riders, advised that they are interested in purchasing the
<br />City -owned property at 812 West Napier Street. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the
<br />above request was referred to the necessary City departments and
<br />bureaus for a determination as to whether or not the City need
<br />retain the lot for any reason.
<br />REQUEST OF KIWANIS CLUB OF SOUTH BEND TO CONDUCT INTERSECTION
<br />SOLICITATIONS - SEPTEMBER 14, 1985, REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John R. Obenchain, Secretary,
<br />Kiwanis Club of South Bend, 1800 Valley American Bank Building,
<br />P.O. Box 4577, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Kiwanis Club
<br />of South Bend will be holding its 50th Annual Newspaper Sale on
<br />Saturday, September 14, 1985, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on
<br />the corners and sidewalks at the following intersections and
<br />would request Board approval to do so:

<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and
<br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review
<br />and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUEST - SUNNYMEDE AVENUE
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Donna Gillett Gehring, 1124
<br />Sunnymede Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to
<br />close Sunnymede Avenue between Eddy and Sunnyside for a
<br />neighborhood block party on Saturday, September 14, 1985 from
<br />12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. with a raindate of Sunday, September 15,
<br />1985. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed
<br />this request and recommend approval subject to the maintenance of
<br />a ten (10) foot clear and unobstructed lane at either curb or
<br />down the center of the street for emergency purposes. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and
<br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF HOLY CROSS PARISH TO CLOSE STREET FOR PARISH
<br />PICNIC - SEPTEMBER 15, 1985
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. & Mrs. William Muempfer, 1808
<br />Wilber Street, South Bend, Indiana, on behalf of Holy Cross
<br />Parish, 1520 Vassar Avenue, requested that Vassar Avenue between
<br />Wilber Street and Lawndale Avenue be closed in conjunction with
<br />the parish picnic to be held on September 15, 1985, from 1:00 to
<br />6:00 p.m. Mr. Leszczynski advised that this request has been
<br />reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police
<br />Department Traffic Division and they recommend approval subject
<br />to the maintenance of a ten (10) foot clear and unobstructed lane
<br />at either curb or down the center of the street for emergency
<br />purposes. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms.
<br />Barnard and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the
