REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 3, 1985 <br />Preferentiality shall be established at the intersection of <br />U.S. 20 (LaSalle Street) and U.S. 33 (Main Street) in the <br />City of South Bend as follows: <br />This intersection is signalized and in the event of need for <br />a flashing operation of the signals, this signal shall flash <br />RED to the North, West and East approaches. <br />All traffic on ail approaches shall STOP before entering the <br />intersection of U.S. 20 (LaSalle Street) and U.S. 33 (Main <br />Street) during the flashing operation of the traffic signal. <br />Note: There are only three (3) approaches to this <br />intersection. U.S. 33 (Main Street) is one-way southbound. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the above referred to IDOH Official Action was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />RECONSTRUCTION OF FIRE STATION # 7 (1616 PORTAGE) <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Timothy J. Brassell, <br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for <br />the reconstruction of Fire Station #7 located at 1616 Portage. <br />Chief Brassell advised that the project involves raising the <br />overall height of the north apparatus bay and enlarging the <br />door. This work is necessary to accommodate larger and higher <br />modern aerial equipment. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT HOLIDAY <br />PARADE - NOVEMBER 16, 1985, REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Bernice Sonneborn, Chairman, and <br />Rick Kring, Co -Chairman, Holiday Parade Committee, P.O. Box 1022, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that the South Bend Holiday Parade <br />Committee sponsored by Center City Associates, request permission <br />to have the Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 16, 1985 from <br />9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Holiday Parade Committee will work <br />with the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division to formulate an acceptable route for the <br />parade. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Vance and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division <br />for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF TEMPLE BETH-EL FOR PARKING ASSISTANCE DURING HOLYDAY <br />SERVICES REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Barbara M. Medich, Secretary, <br />Temple Beth -El, 305 West Madison Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to allow the congregation to park on both <br />sides of The Temple block on West Madison Street and North <br />Lafayette Boulevard for Holyday Services as follows: <br />Sunday <br />September <br />15 <br />8:15 <br />p.m. <br />Monday <br />September <br />16 <br />9:00 <br />a.m.-1:00 P.M. <br />Tuesday <br />September <br />24 <br />8:15 <br />p.m. <br />Wednesday <br />September <br />25 <br />9:00 <br />a.m.-5:30 p.m. <br />They additionally request that the City supply "No Parking" <br />signs. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the request as submitted was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division <br />for review and recommendation. <br />
