REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 26, 1985 <br />I <br />rl <br />F� <br />Court, South Bend, Indiana. Upon <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance <br />was referred to the necessary City <br />determination as to whether or not <br />for any reason. <br />a motion made by Mr. <br />and carried, the above request <br />departments and bureaus for a <br />the City need retain the lot <br />RESCIND PRIOR REJECTION AND ACCEPT BID FOR PURCHASE OF <br />CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1237 VAN BUREN <br />Ms. Barnard advised that on June 24, 1985, the Board of Public <br />Works, rejected the bid of $30.00 submitted by Mr. Richard <br />Chambliss, 1243 Van Buren, South Bend, Indiana, for the purchase <br />of the above referred to City -owned property. She further <br />advised that as an adjacent property owner Mr. Chambliss has been <br />maintaining the property for many years and she would therefore <br />recommend that the Board rescind their prior rejection and award <br />the sale of the property to Mr. Chambliss in the amount of <br />$30.00. Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, with Mr. Vance voting "Nay", the prior <br />rejection was rescinded and the offer accepted. Mr. Vance <br />advised that he was opposed to the sale of the property for the <br />sum of $30.00 due to the fact that if the City sells the property <br />for that amount, it will not recover the costs it has incurred in <br />preparing this property for sale. The matter was referred to the <br />City Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate <br />Purchase Agreement. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />following block party requests and recommend approval: <br />1. PETITIONER: Levester Buckingham, Jr. on behalf <br />of Naptown Riders <br />ADDRESS: 5003 West Washington Street <br />STREET TO BE CLOSED: Napier Street from Chapin to Pine <br />DATE: August 31, 1985 <br />TIMES: 5:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight <br />2. PETITIONER: Rubin R. Sullivan <br />ADDRESS: 1118 East Wayne Street <br />STREET TO BE CLOSED: From 1118 E. Wayne Street, South, to <br />the corner of E. Wayne Street, South <br />and Sunnyside, and from 1203 East <br />Wayne Street, South, to 1204 E. <br />Wayne Street, North. <br />DATE: September 1, 1985 <br />TIMES: 4:00-9:00 p.m. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the recommendations were accepted and the requests <br />approved. <br />APPROVE AND RELEASE CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that <br />Contractors Bonds for the following individuals be approved: <br />1. APPLICANT: Small, Inc. <br />EFFECTIVE: Retroactive to August 19, 1985 <br />2. APPLICANT: Matthew Ivy, Jr. <br />EFFECTIVE: Retroactive to August 19, 1985 <br />Mr. Humphrey additionally recommended that the Contractor's Bond <br />for the following individual be released: <br />
