REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 26, 1985 I rl F� Court, South Bend, Indiana. Upon Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance was referred to the necessary City determination as to whether or not for any reason. a motion made by Mr. and carried, the above request departments and bureaus for a the City need retain the lot RESCIND PRIOR REJECTION AND ACCEPT BID FOR PURCHASE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1237 VAN BUREN Ms. Barnard advised that on June 24, 1985, the Board of Public Works, rejected the bid of $30.00 submitted by Mr. Richard Chambliss, 1243 Van Buren, South Bend, Indiana, for the purchase of the above referred to City -owned property. She further advised that as an adjacent property owner Mr. Chambliss has been maintaining the property for many years and she would therefore recommend that the Board rescind their prior rejection and award the sale of the property to Mr. Chambliss in the amount of $30.00. Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, with Mr. Vance voting "Nay", the prior rejection was rescinded and the offer accepted. Mr. Vance advised that he was opposed to the sale of the property for the sum of $30.00 due to the fact that if the City sells the property for that amount, it will not recover the costs it has incurred in preparing this property for sale. The matter was referred to the City Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase Agreement. APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the following block party requests and recommend approval: 1. PETITIONER: Levester Buckingham, Jr. on behalf of Naptown Riders ADDRESS: 5003 West Washington Street STREET TO BE CLOSED: Napier Street from Chapin to Pine DATE: August 31, 1985 TIMES: 5:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight 2. PETITIONER: Rubin R. Sullivan ADDRESS: 1118 East Wayne Street STREET TO BE CLOSED: From 1118 E. Wayne Street, South, to the corner of E. Wayne Street, South and Sunnyside, and from 1203 East Wayne Street, South, to 1204 E. Wayne Street, North. DATE: September 1, 1985 TIMES: 4:00-9:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendations were accepted and the requests approved. APPROVE AND RELEASE CONTRACTORS BONDS Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that Contractors Bonds for the following individuals be approved: 1. APPLICANT: Small, Inc. EFFECTIVE: Retroactive to August 19, 1985 2. APPLICANT: Matthew Ivy, Jr. EFFECTIVE: Retroactive to August 19, 1985 Mr. Humphrey additionally recommended that the Contractor's Bond for the following individual be released:
