:S:6 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 19, 1985 <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1511 MARIETTA STREET <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Pete Buchanan, 1513 Marietta <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, indicated that he was interested in <br />purchasing the City -owned property at 1511 Marietta Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above request was <br />referred to the necessary City departments and bureaus for a <br />determination as to whether or not the City need retain the lot <br />for any reason. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TO PLACE TEMPORARY SIGNS IN <br />PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Carl Ellison, Assistant <br />Vice -President, Planning and Facilities Management, Memorial <br />Hospital, 615 North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission for the placement of four (4) temporary <br />directional signs in the public right-of-way at the following <br />locations: <br />Lafayette Boulevard/Bartlett Street - 2 signs <br />Lafayette Boulevard/Navarre Street - 1 sign <br />Michigan Street/Navarre Street - 1 sign <br />Mr. Ellison stated that these temporary signs are needed to <br />direct appropriate vehicular movement to the hospital parking and <br />receiving in view of the change in traffic patterns resulting <br />from the vacation and closure of North Main Street to permit <br />construction of Memorial's PACE Pavilion addition. It is <br />anticipated that these signs will be needed until the completion <br />of the PACE project construction in June, 1986. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />Police Department Traffic Division and Building Department have <br />reviewed this request and recommend approval of the placement of <br />the signs. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. <br />Barnard and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the <br />request approved subject to the signs being removed in June of <br />1986, the hospital securing the necessary Indiana Department of <br />Highways approval for the placement of the sign at the <br />intersection of Michigan and Navarre Streets and the filing of a <br />Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 naming <br />the City of South Bend as an additional insured, with the Board <br />of Public Works. <br />APPROVE SIDEWALK SALE PERMIT APPLICATION <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the following Sidewalk Sale Permit Application was <br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for <br />issuance of a permit: <br />NAME OF BUSINESS: Robertson's Department Store <br />ADDRESS: 220 South Michigan Street <br />DATES: August 29,30, 31, 1985 <br />ITEMS TO BE SOLD: General dry goods <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one hundred sixty-nine (169) properties cleaned from <br />August 12, 1985 to August 16, 1985 was submitted. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the <br />report as submitted was filed. <br />
