<br />should the Board approve this request, the restaurant owners
<br />would be required to provide to the Board a Certificate of
<br />Insurance as well as assurance that the area will be kept litter
<br />free. Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the request was approved. It was noted
<br />that the City Attorney's office will prepare the appropriate
<br />Easement for the purposes as described above.
<br />APPROVE ENGINEERING AGREEMENT - TWYCKENHAM DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski submitted to the Board for approval an
<br />Engineering Agreement with Cole Associates, Inc., 2211 East
<br />Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, for the Twyckenham
<br />Drive Improvements Project. He advised that the Agreement is for
<br />engineering services required in the actual design, preparation
<br />of contract plans, special provisions for the specifications,
<br />cost estimates and engineering services required in connection
<br />with the widening, resurfacing, curb and gutter, storm drainage
<br />and intersection improvements and related improvements to
<br />Twyckenham Drive from McKinley Avenue to South Bend Avenue (S.R.
<br />23). Mr. Leszczynski advised that the 1985 estimated cost of the
<br />construction is $i,200,000.00. Additionally, the Engineering
<br />Agreement with Cole Associates, Inc. is in the amount of
<br />$98,500.00. He further advised that the actual construction work
<br />for this project will not begin for at least one (1) to two (2)
<br />years. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms.
<br />Barnard and carried, the Engineering Agreement as submitted was
<br />approved and executed.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - CAR WASHES
<br />FOR CITY VEHICLES
<br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley
<br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for
<br />car washes for City vehicles: Mr. Leszczynski advised that this
<br />is an annual request. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the request was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF
<br />ABANDONED VEHICLES
<br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement,
<br />requested permission.to advertise for the sale of approximately
<br />twenty-three (23) abandoned vehicles which are being stored at
<br />Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South
<br />Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all
<br />vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days,
<br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners
<br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above request was
<br />approved and a date of August 19, 1985 was established for the
<br />receiving and opening of sealed bids.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BICYCLE AND UNCLAIMED PROPERTY AUCTION
<br />- POLICE DEPARTMENT (OCTOBER 12, 1985)
<br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley and
<br />Services Division Chief Ronald G. Marciniak requested permission
<br />to dispose of unclaimed bicycles and other unclaimed property at
<br />a Public Auction to be held on Saturday, October 12, 1985 from
<br />8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. or until all items are sold. A
<br />partial list of items to be sold are bicycles, mopeds, tools,
<br />television sets, jewelry, lawnmowers, clothes and other
<br />miscellaneous goods. It was noted that this is the second
<br />auction of the year and will be held rain or shine. Mr. Vance
<br />recommended that all future requests contain a list of the items
<br />to be auctioned. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded
<br />by Ms. Barnard and carried, the request was approved with the
<br />list of items to be auctioned on October 12, 1985 to be submitted
<br />to City Controller Michael L. Vance.
