0 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 5, 1985 <br />BID: <br />100,000 gals. or less - Liquid Calcium Chloride <br />32% LIQUIDOW Liquid Calcium Chloride $0.3149/gallon <br />All material furnished and delivered to <br />the City of South Bend in Transport <br />loads of approximately 4,500 gallons. <br />Price is FIRM up to and including <br />October, 1986. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the above bids were referred to the Street <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ELEVEN (11) OVERHEAD DOORS <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. As no bids <br />were received for the purchase of the doors, upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, Mr. <br />William Penn, Director, Division of Transportation, was <br />instructed to dispose of said equipment by selling it for scrap <br />value, with verification of disposal and amount received to be <br />filed with the Board. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - TWO (2) YOUNG SLURRY MACHINES <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. As no bids <br />were received for the purchase of this equipment, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, Mr. <br />William Penn, Director, Division of Transportation, was <br />instructed to dispose of said equipment by selling it for its <br />scrap value, with verification of disposal and amount received to <br />be filed with the Board. <br />APPROVE FIRE ALARM ASSISTANCE CONTRACT - UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME <br />Fire Chief Timothy J. Brassell submitted to the Board for <br />approval a Fire Alarm Assistance Contract with the University of <br />Notre Dame providing for fire dispatching and alarm monitoring <br />for a fee of $135.00 per month. The term of the Contract is July <br />1, 1985 through June 30, 1986. Chief Brassell advised that the <br />City has provided these services to the University under previous <br />contracts for the past three (3) years. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the <br />Contract was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF COFFEE MILL RESTAURANT, 232 SOUTH MICHIGAN <br />STREET TO PLACE TABLES AND CHAIRS ON SIDEWALK <br />Board Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer advised the Board that the <br />Coffee Mill Restaurant, 232 South Michigan Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, has requested permission to use a six foot (6') by <br />forty-eight foot ( 48' ) portion of sidewalk in front of their <br />building as a location for outdoor tables and chairs until <br />September 1, 1985. Mr. Marvin Giltner, part owner of the <br />restaurant, indicated that the area would be defined by some <br />temporary fencing and that the tables and chairs would be set up <br />and taken down each day. Ms. Pfotenhauer reminded the Board that <br />a similar arrangement was entered into last year with the owners <br />of the Coney Island Restaurant and an easement for that purpose <br />approved by the Board.
