<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS '- SALE OF
<br />ABANDONED VEHICLES
<br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement,
<br />requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately
<br />twenty-eight (28) abandoned vehicles, sixteen (16) of which are
<br />valued at_over $100.00 and all of which are being stored at Steve
<br />& Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have
<br />been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had
<br />been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and
<br />carried, the above request was approved and a date of June 24,
<br />1985, was established for the receiving and opening of sealed
<br />bids.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ESLINGER FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES, INC. TO
<br />CONDUCT ANNUAL TENT SALE - JULY 9-31, 1985
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering, Captain Edward Friend, Police Department
<br />Traffic Division, Mr. Jack Mathews, Building Commissioner and
<br />Assistant Fire Chief George Gyori have all reviewed this request
<br />submitted to the Board on May 28, 1985 and recommend approval. It
<br />was noted that Mr. Thomas D. Eslinger, President of Eslinger
<br />Furniture, provided with his request a letter certifying as to
<br />Flame Retardancy of the tent and a site plan. Upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above
<br />request was approved subject to Eslinger's securing the necessary
<br />Building Permit and subject to their providing to the Board a
<br />Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 liability
<br />naming the City of South Bend as an additional insured for this
<br />event.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE CAMPEAU STREET FOR CHURCH PICNIC (JUNE
<br />29, 1985)
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, Police
<br />Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request of the
<br />First A.M.E. Zion Church, 801 N. Eddy, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />Close Campeau Street, submitted to the Board on June 3, 1985, and
<br />recommend approval. It was noted that the petitioner will be
<br />responsible for the closing and opening of the streets and alleys
<br />with barricades to be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms.
<br />Barnard and carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the
<br />request approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY IN 3600 BLOCK OF REXFORD
<br />DRIVE (JUNE 15, 1985)
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, Police
<br />Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request of Mrs.
<br />Karen Cline, to conduct a block party in the 3600 block of Rexford
<br />Drive on June 15, 1985, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., submitted to
<br />the Board on June 3, 1985, and recommend approval. It was noted
<br />that the petitioner will be responsible for the closing and
<br />opening of the streets and alleys with barricades to be provided
<br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above
<br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved.
