REGULAR MEETING JUNE 10, 1985 <br />1 <br />public right-of-way. Two (2) signs are located at Lafayette/ <br />Bartlett, one (1) is at Lafayette/Navarre, and the remaining <br />temporary sign is in the State right-of-way at Michigan/Navarre. <br />Mr. Ellison advised that these temporary signs are needed to <br />direct appropriate vehicular movement to hospital parking and <br />receiving in view of the change in traffic patterns resulting from <br />the vacation and closure of N. Main Street to permit construction <br />of Memorial's PACE Pavilion addition. Memorial Hospital <br />anticipates that these signs will be needed until the completion_ <br />of PACE project construction in June, 1986. Also submitted was a <br />Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting, the Police Department Traffic Division and the <br />Building Department for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST INTERSECTION SOLICITATION - MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION <br />(JULY 14, 1985) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Karen 0. Locke, District Director, <br />Muscular Dystrophy Association, requested permission on behalf of <br />the National Association of Letter Carriers, South Bend Branch <br />#330, to hold their annual Muscular Dystrophy Association <br />Solicitation on Sunday, July 14, 1985, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 <br />p.m. at the following intersections: <br />1. Miami & Ireland <br />2. Edison & Ironwood <br />3. Miami & Lincolnway East <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR SIDEWALK SALE FESTIVAL - MIAMI STREET <br />MERCHANTS (JULY 13, 14 & 15, 1985) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a request was received from the Miami <br />Street Association for Sidewalk Days to be held on June 13, 14,, <br />and 15, 1985. Ms. Beverlie Beck, President, South Bend Common <br />Council was present. She stated she has been working with the <br />Association and realized this was a late request but would <br />appreciate anything the Board could do. It was noted that no <br />applications were attached. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the Board <br />approved the Sidewalk Days subject to Sidewalk Sale Permit <br />applications being filed, permits obtained and indemnification <br />agreements signed for the following: <br />United Nations <br />Reflections in Time <br />Chevron Cafe <br />Designer's Cove <br />Cheak Insurance <br />House of Andala <br />Gold Room <br />Confetti, Inc. <br />The Clothes Tree <br />Virginia Tutt Library <br />Green Star Cafe <br />Palm Casuals <br />Justa Meat Market <br />Kitchen Shop <br />Breedlove & Bare <br />Brants 5 & 10 <br />Survival Shop <br />The Rocking Horse <br />All State Athletic Equip. <br />K-9 Pet Store <br />APPROVE REOUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - LINCOLNWAY WEST <br />CURB IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of <br />Public Construction, requested permission to advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the <br />above request was approved. <br />
