REGULAR MEETING JUNE 3, 1985 <br />REQUEST;TO CLOSE PORTION OF CAMPEAU STREET FOR CHURCH PICNIC (JUN. <br />29, 1985) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board Ms. LuElla Webster and Rev. H. Dwight <br />Balton, Pastor, First A.M.E. Zion Church, 801 N. Eddy Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close Campeau Street <br />from Eddy to Francis in conjunction with a church picnic on June <br />29, 1985, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request <br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department:,Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TRAFFIC CONTROL DURING LEEPER PARK ART FAIR (JUNE 22 & 23, <br />1985) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board Mr. Dick Evans, Chairman, Leeper Park Art <br />Fair, 51645 Hickory Road, Granger, Indiana, requested that <br />Riverside Drive be one-way westbound with parking limited to the <br />south side of the street and that Park Lane be one-way eastbound <br />with parking on the north side of the street in conjunction with <br />the Leeper Park Art Fair to be held on June 22 & 23, 1985. They <br />have leased the parking lot of the Knights of Columbus for those <br />two days which should somewhat control congestion in the area. <br />Upon a;motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 618 NORTH CUSHING <br />STREET <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Solon Orfanos, 308 N. Cushing <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, indicated that he was interested in <br />purchasing the City -owned property at 618 North Cushing Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Orfanos advised that he owns the <br />property adjacent to it and would like to take care of this <br />property. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the necessary <br />City departments and bureaus for a determination as to whether'or <br />not the City need retain the lot for any reason. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. STANISLAUS CHURCH TO CONDUCT PROCESSION - <br />JUNE 9, 1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, Police <br />Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request of St. <br />Stanislaus Church to conduct a procession on June 9, 1985, <br />submitted to the Board on May 28, 1985, and recommended approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF HILLTOP GOSPEL CHURCH TO CLOSE STREET FOR <br />HILLTOP SERVICES - JUNE 16, 1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, Police <br />Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request of the <br />Hilltop Gospel Church to close Washington Street submitted to the <br />Board on -May 20, 1985 and recommends approval. It was noted that <br />the petitioner will be responsible for the closing and opening of <br />the street with barricades to be delivered by the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconde& by Mr. Vance and.carried, the above recommendation was. <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />
