REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 13, 1985 <br />REQUEST OF WSBT RADIO TO CONDUCT 2ND ANNUAL "SALUTE.TO SUMMER" ON <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA - JUNE 21, 1985 - REFERRED <br />Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, submitted <br />to the Board a request from WSBT Radio, 300 West Jefferson <br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, to hold the 2nd Annual "Salute to <br />Summer" on the stage area on River Bend Plaza on Friday, June 21, <br />1985. WSBT Radio, its announcer and staff plan to grill hot dogs <br />and provide Coke free to the public as part of this celebration of <br />the first official day of summer. The time of this event would be <br />from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a live remote broadcast during <br />this time span. Ms. Dobski stated that this has been a fine event <br />for the Downtown and requests favorable consideration of this <br />request. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division <br />for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, <br />requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately <br />twenty (20) abandoned vehicles, fourteen (14) of which are valued <br />at over $100.00 and all of which are being stored at Steve & <br />Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have <br />been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had <br />been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was approved and a date of May 28, 1985 <br />was established for the receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADDENDUM <br />The following Community Development addendum was presented to the <br />Board for approval: <br />ADDENDUM II <br />EL CAMPITO DAY CARE <br />EL CAMPITO REHABILITATION ACTIVITY <br />Addendum II indicates the following changes: <br />1. Added roof repair & heating <br />2. Cost Categories - specified <br />3. Location changed to Thomas <br />system to goals. <br />rehabilitation of first floor. <br />Street. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the above and addendum was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO WALK FROM LEEPER PARK TO NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY <br />IN REGARD TO THE SITUATION IN EL SALVADOR <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward I. Friend, South Bend <br />Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the request of <br />Marece Neagu and Lee Gloster to conduct a Walk from Leeper Park to <br />Notre Dame University on May 19, 1985, said request submitted to <br />the Board on April 29, 1985, and recommend approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the following four (4) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />n <br />
