REGULAR MEETING MAY 13, 1985 REQUEST OF WSBT RADIO TO CONDUCT 2ND ANNUAL "SALUTE.TO SUMMER" ON RIVER BEND PLAZA - JUNE 21, 1985 - REFERRED Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, submitted to the Board a request from WSBT Radio, 300 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, to hold the 2nd Annual "Salute to Summer" on the stage area on River Bend Plaza on Friday, June 21, 1985. WSBT Radio, its announcer and staff plan to grill hot dogs and provide Coke free to the public as part of this celebration of the first official day of summer. The time of this event would be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a live remote broadcast during this time span. Ms. Dobski stated that this has been a fine event for the Downtown and requests favorable consideration of this request. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately twenty (20) abandoned vehicles, fourteen (14) of which are valued at over $100.00 and all of which are being stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was approved and a date of May 28, 1985 was established for the receiving and opening of sealed bids. APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADDENDUM The following Community Development addendum was presented to the Board for approval: ADDENDUM II EL CAMPITO DAY CARE EL CAMPITO REHABILITATION ACTIVITY Addendum II indicates the following changes: 1. Added roof repair & heating 2. Cost Categories - specified 3. Location changed to Thomas system to goals. rehabilitation of first floor. Street. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above and addendum was approved and executed. APPROVE REQUEST TO WALK FROM LEEPER PARK TO NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY IN REGARD TO THE SITUATION IN EL SALVADOR Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, Division of Engineering and Captain Edward I. Friend, South Bend Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the request of Marece Neagu and Lee Gloster to conduct a Walk from Leeper Park to Notre Dame University on May 19, 1985, said request submitted to the Board on April 29, 1985, and recommend approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the following four (4) traffic control devices were approved: n
