55 6 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 29, 1985 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, <br />requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately <br />nineteen (19) abandoned vehicles, thirteen (13) of which are <br />valued at over $100.00 and all of which are being stored at Steve <br />& Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have <br />been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had <br />been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the above request was approved and a date of May 13, 1985 <br />was established for the receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE ALLEY BEHIND 1639 S. CARLISLE STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, South Bend <br />Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request to <br />close the alley behind 1639 S. Carlisle Street on May 5, 1985, <br />said request submitted to the Board on April 22, 1985, and <br />recommended approval. It was noted that the petitioner will be <br />responsible for the placing and removal of the barricades with the <br />barricades to be delivered by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH.BEND PUBLIC RECREATION COMMISSION TO <br />CONDUCT ANNUAL FESTIVAL 5-ROAD RUN AND SHORTER RUN - JULY 4, 1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, South Bend <br />Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request of <br />Mr. Robert C. Goodrich, Director, South Bend Public Recreation <br />Commission to conduct the Annual Festival 5-Road Run and a shorter <br />run on July 4, 1985 and recommended approval of the route as <br />follows: East on Jefferson to St. Louis, south on St. Louis to <br />Northside, along the River to 31st Street, circle four blocks back <br />to Northside and back to Footbridge in Howard Park over Bridge on <br />sidewalk along river back to Jefferson (staying on sidewalk) back <br />to Howard Park Parking Lot. A shorter race will be run at the <br />same time using the same starting location but veering off at the <br />footbridge and cross the river, then staying on sidewalk, back to <br />Howard Park. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Ms. Barnard and carried, the above recommendation was accepted and <br />the request approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. REVISE TO TRUCKS OVER 26,000 G.V.W. PROHIBITED - <br />1700-2100 Edison Road. <br />2. REVISE TO PARKING - 30-Minute Parking 6 A.M. - 6 P.M. - <br />814 S. Indiana (Requested by owner, Steve Nemeth). <br />3. NEW INSTALLATION, STOP SIGN - First NIS Alley between <br />Bonds and Green, east of Bendix.
