55 6 REGULAR MEETING APRIL 29, 1985 APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately nineteen (19) abandoned vehicles, thirteen (13) of which are valued at over $100.00 and all of which are being stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above request was approved and a date of May 13, 1985 was established for the receiving and opening of sealed bids. APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE ALLEY BEHIND 1639 S. CARLISLE STREET Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, South Bend Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request to close the alley behind 1639 S. Carlisle Street on May 5, 1985, said request submitted to the Board on April 22, 1985, and recommended approval. It was noted that the petitioner will be responsible for the placing and removal of the barricades with the barricades to be delivered by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH.BEND PUBLIC RECREATION COMMISSION TO CONDUCT ANNUAL FESTIVAL 5-ROAD RUN AND SHORTER RUN - JULY 4, 1985 Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, South Bend Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request of Mr. Robert C. Goodrich, Director, South Bend Public Recreation Commission to conduct the Annual Festival 5-Road Run and a shorter run on July 4, 1985 and recommended approval of the route as follows: East on Jefferson to St. Louis, south on St. Louis to Northside, along the River to 31st Street, circle four blocks back to Northside and back to Footbridge in Howard Park over Bridge on sidewalk along river back to Jefferson (staying on sidewalk) back to Howard Park Parking Lot. A shorter race will be run at the same time using the same starting location but veering off at the footbridge and cross the river, then staying on sidewalk, back to Howard Park. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were approved: 1. REVISE TO TRUCKS OVER 26,000 G.V.W. PROHIBITED - 1700-2100 Edison Road. 2. REVISE TO PARKING - 30-Minute Parking 6 A.M. - 6 P.M. - 814 S. Indiana (Requested by owner, Steve Nemeth). 3. NEW INSTALLATION, STOP SIGN - First NIS Alley between Bonds and Green, east of Bendix. (Sight distance problem). I 1 1
