1 <br />1 <br />REGULAR MEETING APRIL 8, 1985 <br />2. Traffic or pedestrian signals at Main and Washington <br />must not be blocked. <br />3. Permission must be secured from the Indiana Department <br />of Highways for use of Main Street. <br />4. Construction of walkway must be strong enough to with- <br />stand any falling objects from proposed construction. <br />5. Walkway must be constructed to O.S.H.A. standards and <br />applicable City ordinances and must be of fire - <br />retardant materials. <br />6. Red warning lights must be installed to warn drivers. <br />7. Walkway must be built and maintained as indicated on <br />drawings submitted with request. <br />8. A Building Permit must be secured from the Building <br />Department and an Occupancy Bond must be filed. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above recommendations were accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF UNITED RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY <br />TO CONDUCT WALK - JUNE 9, 1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering, Captain Edward I. Friend, Police Traffic <br />Division and Park Superintendent James R. Seitz have reviewed the <br />request referred to above, said request submitted to the Board on <br />March 25, 1985, and recommend approval. It was recommended that <br />the walkers utilize either the walkway from Century Center to <br />Howard Park going underneath Jefferson Street or use the public <br />sidewalks obeying all traffic signals. It was noted that no <br />police or traffic assistance will be provided and that United <br />Religious Community will be required to sign an Indemnification <br />Agreement holding the City harmless from any liability which may <br />occur as a result of this event. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the recommendations as submitted were accepted and the <br />request approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION, TRUCKS OVER 26,000 GVW PROHIBITED - <br />LaSalle - L.W.W. to Chapin. (To limit size of <br />vehicles and trucks using a 42' to 30' residential <br />street). <br />2. REVISE TO 1-HOUR PARKING IN THIS HALF BLOCK MON. THRU <br />SAT. 8A-6P - 100 W. Colfax, South side, East 1/2 <br />block. (Requested by Traffic and Lighting). <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - RUBBISH AND GARBAGE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following four (4) Rubbish and <br />Garbage license applications have been received: <br />1. Johnson Foulks <br />1626 Florence, S.B. <br />
