REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 11, 1985 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - STREET <br />MATERIALS FOR 1985 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt <br />of bids for street materials for 1985. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request <br />was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - GASOLINE <br />AND FUEL OIL FOR CALENDAR YEAR 1985 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt <br />of bids for gasoline and fuel oil for calendar year 1985. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, <br />requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately <br />thirteen (13) abandoned vehicles, six (6) of which are valued at <br />over $100.00 and all of which are being stored at Steve & Gene's <br />Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored <br />more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run <br />for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request was approved and a date of February 25, 1985, <br />was established for the receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BICYCLE AND UNCLAIMED PROPERTY AUCTION <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley and Chief <br />of Services Ronald G. Marciniak, requested permission to dispose <br />of unclaimed bicycles and other unclaimed property at a Public <br />Auction to be held on Saturday, April 13, 1985, from 8:30 a.m. to <br />1:30 p.m. A partial list of items to be sold are bicycles, <br />mopeds, tools, television sets, jewelry, lawnmowers and other <br />miscellaneous goods. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved <br />and the Clerk was instructed to prepare the necessary Notice of <br />Public Auction for publication. <br />REQUEST OF ORAK SHRINE TEMPLE TO CONDUCT PARADE - MAY 18, 1985 <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Charles E. Neher, Director, Orak <br />Temple Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine Michigan <br />City Oasis - Desert of Indiana, 50560 Tecumseh Drive, Granger, <br />Indiana, advised that on May 18, 1985, the Orak Shrine Temple will <br />be celebrating their 75th Anniversary with a ceremonial to be held <br />in South Bend. They are thereby requesting permission to conduct <br />a parade on May 18th beginning at 8:30 a.m. The suggested route <br />for the parade is as follows: <br />Line up is to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Western Avenue west of the <br />Mall Area. The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m., proceed north <br />thru the Mall area crossing Wayne Street, Jefferson Street, <br />Washington Street (review area between Jefferson and <br />Washington by WSBT-TV Channel 22), Colfax Street, LaSalle <br />Avenue, Madison to Marion west on Marion to Main, south on <br />Main to Madison to disassemble. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />
