62 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 18, 1986 <br />APPROVE FIRE ALARM ASSIST <br />UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME <br />E CONTRACT - CI7 <br />i SOUTH BEND, <br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor submitted to the Board for approval a <br />renewal contract for fire dispatching and alarm monitoring for <br />the University of Notre Dame for the period November 1, 1986 <br />through December 31, 1987 in the amount of $135.00 per month. <br />He stated that the City has provided these services under <br />previous contracts for the past four (4) years. Further, the <br />monthly price for the services is unchanged from the previous <br />year. <br />It was noted that the University has installed within the South <br />Bend Centralized Communication Center a digital readout device <br />which coordinates with its present "Gamewell" register and <br />provides a numerical display of alarms generated over the <br />University "Gamewell" system and identifies the location of the <br />fire alarm at the University. The University has purchased radio <br />pagers for its Fire Department personnel which are to be <br />activated by the South Bend Centralized Communication Center <br />dispatch personnel upon receipt of any "Gamewell" alarm at the <br />South Bend Centralized Communication Center, which radio pagers <br />are compatible with present South Bend Communication encoded <br />pager system. The City desires to assist the University in this <br />coordination of fire dispatching procedures by authorizing the <br />use of its Centralized Communication Center for such a purpose. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the above referred to Contract was approved and <br />executed. <br />APPROVE PURCHASE AGREEMENTS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 307 <br />& 315 EAST KEASEY STREET <br />In accordance with the bid awarded on November 3, 1986, for the <br />purchase of the City -owned lots at 307 and 315 East Keasey Street <br />in the amount of $260.00 each to Mr. Reginald Ruffin, 311 Keasey <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, the appropriate Purchase Agreements <br />were being submitted at this time for Board approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, <br />the Purchase Agreements were approved and the matter referred to <br />the City Attorney's office for drafting of the appropriate <br />Quit -Claim Deeds. <br />APPROVE OFFERS TO PURCHASE REAL PROPERTY - BUREAU OF HOUSING <br />LOCAL HOMESTEADING PROGRAM (121 NORTH ELM & 119 NORTH ELM) <br />Mr. Ted Leverman, Assistant Director, Bureau of Housing, advised <br />that the Bureau is again purchasing vacant two -to -four bedroom <br />houses in need of repair for the Local Homesteading Program. <br />These properties, located in the Community Development <br />Neighborhood Revitalization Area, will be awarded to eligible <br />applicants who will agree to rehabilitate and live in them for <br />three (3) years prior to receiving the Deed. He stated that the <br />above referred to houses are located side -by -side within the West <br />Washington revitalization area and the Bureau would like to <br />acquire them for the Local Homesteading Program.
